Six-issue Marvel limited series featuring Robert E. Howard's Puritan hero

    Short summary describing this volume.

Before Dark Horse acquired the license, Marvel Comics held the rights to the Robert E. Howard estate, which, of course, meant plenty of Conan the Barbarian for everyone, but also Solomon Kane. The series consists of Ralph Macchio's adaptations of Howard's original stories, bookended with separate tales set in Africa, and features both cover and interior art from a variety of talented artists like Steve Carr, Bret Blevins, Kevin Nowlan, Mike Mignola, and Al Williamson to name just a few. The mood is somber and dark, thanks to colorist Ken Feduniewicz. Solomon Kane is a Puritan, and seeks retribution for slain innocents in the name of God against both mortal foes and supernatural enemies.; this is a fascinating contrast to Conan's hedonistic tendencies and even to the themes in the original five-issue Punisher limited series which premiered around the same time. Sadly, this series has not been collected in trade paperback form, but is worthwhile reading for fans of high adventure.

Collected in Solomon Kane: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus.
