A Sandman movie is a dream come true for me....I'm just hoping they pull it off.

Gonna go continue binge reading the Sandman series, will hopefully finish it before the second issue of overture comes out.

This could be amazing or a train wreck. Goyer is not the kind of writer that should be attached to Sandman a book that is more mental and philosophical, Something he does not do well he is your big flashy action driven writer.

As for JGL I am kind of sick of him, I find for every movie he is in were I like him there is one I don't.

Why Goyer of all people...He's a horrible writer.

JGL just tweeted that as of right now he is just a producer

I don't know why people want The Sandman as a movie. You'd have to skip the majority of it for the main plot.

@jonny_anonymous I was wondering why you of all people wouldn't be pleased with this news and then I noticed Goyer's name attached to the project. I feel for you man, it seems like he may be set to ruin both our favourite characters.

@lvenger: even if it wasn't Goyer I wouldn't be happy with the news, I think Sandman is one of those things that Hollywood shouldn't mess with, it will never live up to the book no matter how good it is and I will find it impossible to enjoy so I wouldn't watch it anyway.

@lvenger: Yea it will be literally impossible to meet my expectations so I won't watch it also this will be the version the general public will all know so that will anger me more.

I don't know how others feel, but after reading the comic this is one I rather stay as a comic book. I mean how can you depict the speech bubbles in a movie or television show?

I'm super excited for Dream to have a movie but I don't know that JGL is the best fit. I think someone like Benedict Cumberbatch, who has a more commanding voice would be better.

While this is awesome news I would have preferd it if they made a Sandman TV series instead of a movie.

I don't know how to react. Isn't JGL a newbie director/producer. A newbie handling a big project with lots of fans all over the world. One wrong mistake and the internet will eat him alive.

Why is David Goyer not teaching literature at an elementary school somewhere? How does this stooge keep finding himself attached to these huge projects? His writing is absolutely abysmal. Why not just have Gaiman write the screenplay himself? He has a far more profound insight and understanding into the story(s) and characters associated with the Sandman/Vertigo mythos.

Come on you guys, Angelina Jolie is far too feminine for the Desire role. You need someone more androgynous that can pull off feminine, masculine and a disturbing mix of both.I'm sorry but A.J. is all woman all the time. A better fit would be someone like Tilda Swinton. In re. a Sandman movie... I get that JGL is a fan, but I'm not sure he has enough star power to keep Neil Gaiman involved when Hollywood pisses him off and he walks... and with David Goyer involved... that's like getting Michael Bay involved in a TMNT Movie... oh wait. I'll probably go see this just to see what they could possibly do with such a huge sweeping plot in 2 hours, but I think @billy_batson said it best. "You'd have to skip the majority of it for the main plot." The devil (and most of the fun) is in the details in the Sandman mythos, all the little asides, and the side plots that weave together to become soooo important later. Yeah, not going to get my hopes up on this one.
