An american rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, California. The band got its name form the book by Aldous Huxley's "The Doors of Perception. They were one of the most controversial bands of the 60's due to Jim Morrison's stage antics and his lyrics. One example is on the Ed Sullivan Show the Doors were there to perform. One of the songs they were there to perform was there hit "Light My Fire" and one of the lines is "Girl we couldn't get much higher". They asked him not to sing that because of the drug reference and how that would not be allowed to say that on TV. Jim got offended and didn't not want to compromise his work so he sang it anyway on live TV.
