Barbara Norriss reveals herself after duping the entire team as Valkyrie. Ollerus' army kicks into second gear.

The climactic battle arranged by Ollerus, who wishes to become the new Asgardian god of the dead, begins. On one side, Ollerus, Barbara Norris (who the Defenders believe to be Valkyrie), and a deceived Hulk, Hellcat, and Nighthawk. On the other, Hela, the actual Valkyrie, and the heroes of Valhalla.

Hela asks Odin to intervene, but all he agrees to is to not help Ollerus.

Barbara Norris and Valkyrie battle, and the Defenders realize that they may have been tricked, but don’t know for sure which is their friend. However, Hulk throws a boulder, and knocks out the real Val. Hela’s forces are losing. The Defenders realize, too late, that the now-clearly-vengeance-fueled Valkyrie that they came with is Norris.

Val wakes up, and she and the Defenders now help Hela’s forces. Ollerus attacks, sending a giant movable mountain to crush his foes. Hulk attacks it, and smashes it despite the mountain’s counterattacks.

Hela, realizing she should not rule Valhalla, banishes herself, Norris, and Ollerus to Niffleheim, and sends the Defenders, and Val, back to Earth. Val sadly parts with her recent love, Harokin, leader of the warriors of Valhalla.
