    Origin

Little is known about the origin of the being commonly referred to as the Celestial Pharaoh. He originated in a place beyond time and space, the Hidden Library of the Crimson Corridor in the Sad House. A librarian or chronicler, Thon was sent alongside two other beings, Nhut and her husband, to travel to Earth and observe and report on the happenings there. However, their portal home was destroyed, and the Celestial Pharaoh and the other entities began terrorizing the human population of Ancient Egypt, where they had arrived. The humans revolted and ensnared the beings, trapping them and enslaving them for millennia. Finally, his chains passed to Dudley Caldecott, Miles St Aubrey, and their occult Group.

    Creation

The Celestial Pharaoh was created by James Robinson and Frazer Irving. He made his first appearance in The Shade #7.

    The Shade

Still under control of the power-hungry Dudley Caldecott and Miles St Aubrey, the Celestial Pharaoh's cosmic influence brings them a certain level of power and luck. He and Nhut are induced to suppress the powers of the Shade, who has arrived to unravel the Group's plots, and they do so with difficulty. The pair are freed from the Group's control by the machinations of the Shade, who causes the Group to return too much of their power to them. They immediately seek their revenge against the Group, and then move on to terrorize London. Their rampage is halted by the Shade, who ensnares them with a pentagram and teleports them to a pocket dimension. There he speaks with Shade, and together with Nhut explains their history and that returning to their home will likely cause them to be executed for their crimes. Feeling that it is better to die at home than live amongst the humans, the Celestial Pharaoh and Nhut are teleported back to their home. His fate is unknown.
