Not bad. But not great
I've been interested in reading this graphic novel for awhile since I was interested in learning more about the Hobgoblin since he's been considered as one of Spider-Man's best enemies and some fans have even said that Hobgoblin is better than the Green Goblin.
After reading this, I have this to say: It's not bad. But it's not great.
I'll start with the positives: The storyline was interesting because the Hobgoblin is very interesting and seeing Spider-Man trying to know who the Hobgoblin. I would also like to say that Hobgoblin was interesting because he's very deadly and seeing him improve the Green Goblins weapons was cool.
The art in the graphic novel was nice at times (I'll explain why later in this review) and I really loved Hobgoblins look. He looks very scary and creepy.
Now comes the negatives: At times the artwork looks sloppy and I also felt that the artist didn't bother finishing the drawings. I understand these comics that are re-printed in the graphic novel are from the 80's but it got on my nerves at times.
I also thought that the first couple issues were very unnecessary. I understand that the graphic novel wanted to let us know who Roderick Kingsley is but I thought it was out of place and should've been re-printed in another graphic novel.
Overall: It's not a bad graphic novel but it's not great. I enjoyed reading what was going to happen next but there were some flaws that annoyed me. But it's still a good graphic novel and it's worth checking out if you're interested in learning more about the Hobgoblin.
