the end of the silver age...

the good                                                                                                                                       it starts out with pete coming back from a fight with hulk in Canada where he finds out his best friend harry is having drug problems again. Norman is losing it and says he never wants to see gwen or pete again. Norman gets his memory back and is going to get revenge. meanwhile gwen is thinking to herself about harry when a freaky looking goblin appears outside her window. Peter goes to see her when he finds a pumpkin bomb and a note. Terrified, he gets to the Brooklyn bridge where he fights goblin, he shoots a rocket which rocks gwen of the bridge. Spidey shoots out  a web that catches although it snaps her neck (which by the way Conway had no idea he put in the script) at first spider-man is relieved but then notices shes not breathing. green goblin says shed already died fro the shock of the fall. for the first ever we see a pissed of spider-man fighting goblin to the death. goblin retreats. delirious with rage, the police show up and blame spider-man although one cop thinks spidey didn't do it. peter goes to harrys house hoping he can give him a lead to his dads whereabouts. He finds out nothing and leaves but harry wants hi to stay in case something happens to him and because hes afraid and all alone. spider-man doesnt give a crap and leaves harry is so desperate he crawls after him but cant find him. peter figures out where goblin is and nearly beats him to death before restraining himself . in one last desperate attempt to get his revenge he has his glider shootout blades and try to impale spidey, his spider-sense goes of and he jumps out of the way but gg gets hit. spider-man leaves feeling even lonelier than before. the end

Wow! 100 reviews. That's pretty cool, I think. Given what I reviewed for my 50th review extravaganza(!), I figured it would be fitting to review the comics that inspired it. So here goes. (This is a review of both Amazing Spider-Man #121 and #122: "The Night Gwen Stacy Died" and "The Green Goblin's Last Stand".)You'd be hard pressed to hear me praise anything about the early portion (or just about any portion other than this one) of Gerry Conway's run on The Amazing Spider-Man. I don't know ...
