While my last review of Teen Titans ended with me declaring I'd given up on this book, I'm afraid I'm dead wrong. While it still needs some more time to get great, the fact that the team is assembled and ready to go is good news. Lobdell has been criticized for his dialogue being cheesy and I'd agree with that, yet he's able to do team books very well because of how he handles the characterization. Teen Titans probably should've been assembled sooner. Comparing this to Red Hood, where Lobdel was...

    Good Again 2

I've had a mixed reading experience with the Teen Titans series. I really didn't care for issue one. I really liked issue two. I hated issue three. Now issue four is added to ones that I like. Maybe the best one yet.  THE GOOD: I really like the art. Brett Booth draws characters different so all the people look different and interesting. The Times Square part, his art shined the most. He added quite a bit of easter eggs and the detail was amazing. The story doesn't add much but it makes up for i...

Way to be creative Tim Drake 0

I"m going to go ahead and put my biggest gripe with this issue out there because it's pretty minor and if this is all that's wrong with the issue, it's doing pretty well. When Tim names the team the Teen Titans, everyone acts like that's the coolest idea they've ever heard. But we've had more than a few hints that Dick's time in the Teen Titans was not erased by the new 52. So I think it would have been more appropriate for people to have had a different response in-universe.With that out of the...

    Showdown In Times Square 0

The Story: Wonder Girl fights Superboy in Times Square while the rest of the team gets aquatinted with Kid Flash and Solstice for the first time. My Thoughts:At the end of the last issue we were promised a confrontation with Superboy this issue. The story begins in Times Square where Cassie is being followed by Superboy. The two eventually begin to throw down with each other. The plot gaps didn't go unnoticed by me. Why was Cassie in New York and how did she get there? There was no mention of he...

    TOO MANY RECAPS! 0

The Good: This issue has the best cover yet, for once I have no real complaints. The party scene adds to the explosive feel of the battle, and I love the way the background is just the simplicity of the single main image blown out of proportion. THIS IS HOW YOU DO EASTER EGGS! The opening scene is chock full of nice subtle easter eggs IN THE BACKGROUND. Geoff Johns could learn a thing or seven about easter eggs from Scott Lobdell. This issue has two main parts, the big battle between Wonder Girl...

    Teen Terrible 0

Ok, so its here, the 4th issue of Teen Titans Post-Flashpoint.Now TT is probably one of the most heavily struck out of all the titles who were also around pre-Flashpoint. That is; most of the returning members have been de-aged back to square 1 pretty much and that everything they've said and done in the pre-Flashpoint world has been thrown into the bin. The only exception is Red Robin, who's had his 'intern-ship' with Batman and since broken off to be his own man (and hero) at the age of, appar...

There will be no New Year's day kiss for Wonder Girl and Superboy 0

Synopsis: Wonder Girl and Superboy throw down on New Year's eve. What's Good?Again, I'm really liking Miguel. While Bart is supposed to be the comic relief of the group (which he's still is), Miguel's upbeat personality is just what this series needs. The same with Solstice who still seems to have kept her personality from the old universe. Speaking about Bart, it's actually nice to see him rattle Tim by being obnoxious. Fighting over clothes seems juvenile, but Tim has been a bit too uptight lat...

    That is something 0

As is evident from the cover the majority of this issue is focusing around the battle of Superboy against Wonder Girl.  This is a sort of tongue-in-cheek nod to their romantic past together, as they are being depicted here as opposites to one another in their outlook on the actions of the organization that is tracking them.  In reality though this issue somewhat specifically from this fight.  It is not so much that it is unnecessary, but rather that while it may move the plot along, that it at t...

Comic Review -- Teen Titans #4: Danger Squared! / Scott Lobdell & 0

Originally posted on my blog, The Comics Cove, not too long ago...Teen Titans #4: Danger Squared! Now this is a fun cover! Not only is the image of Wonder Girl and Superboy's clash pretty epic in and of itself, but it's making use of a large screen in Times Square to give a more detailed look at the slugfest going on right in front of it. The art, the storyline suggestion, and the action all made the cover alone make me want to pick up this book. The Titans--sans Wonder Girl and Superboy--finally ...
