    This series is rapidly becoming one of contrasts for me.  I came to it originally to introduce myself for the first time to Amethyst, a character that I had been familiar with but having never read a whole lot of stories featuring her.  Thus far the stories involving Amethyst have been pretty fun, but the surprise in this series has been the backup stories with Beowulf, set in a post-apocalyptic world.  The Amethyst part of this particular issue is a little dry.  There are some decent moments wh...

    DON'T DROP BEOWULF 0

    WOW, that's a lot of purple. It's almost overwhelming. But the design's really nice. The shining crystal sparking all the purple light is a perfect focal point, drawing your eyes right to it before you look down at the rest.Amethyst is a really interesting and strangely unique series. It swings close to being a relic of a lost age, but it's modernized itself just enough to avoid being dry, and thus it's actually very unique in the current time. I don't see a lot of good hard fantasy series' like...
