    Swamp Thing #8

Swamp Thing » Swamp Thing #8 - Eye of the Storm released by DC Comics on June 2012.

    Short summary describing this issue.

No recent wiki edits to this page.

Behold the terrifying true potential of the Swamp Thing – a form so fearsome we couldn't put it on the cover! The Green sought a warrior king, and now they have one…but will they regret unleashing a being this powerful? And can all that strength save Abigail Arcane from her destiny in the Rot's clutches?

This issue opens with a farmer in Idaho, going out to his fields but finding them barren. Then in Utah a father and son hunting are attacked by seemingly undead wildlife. In Wyoming and Arizona, tornadoes of bugs attack the populace. This is the extent of the Rot's evil spreading in America. We are finally shown the Bone Kingdom where Sethe and Abby reside and we see Swamp Thing flying toward the center.

As Alec approaches Sethe's kingdom, Sethe's minions prepare for the coming assault. When Alec arrives he forms a sword and shield out of his hands and begins slicing away at the minions. He calls out for Abby desperately looking for her so that he can free her before she is transformed. Just as he approaches the cocoon Abby bursts out, transformed and a parallel to Sethe. She strikes her claws right through Alec.

THE GOOD: I really love the art in this series. I think that this is some of the best art in the New 52. It's even better because the artist hasn't needed a break to catch up. The arts amazing and on time. I really like the story in this issue though. We get to see Swamp Thing battle as Swamp Thing for the first time since the reboot. I really like the new design even though I think the wings should go. I also really didn't know about Swamp Thing before the reboot and I'm glad that I feel like I...

Art: This issue is really all about the art and introducing the temperament and body of this new Swamp Thing and boy does Paquette do the business. The page that gives us our first full fleshed look of the new Swampy is magnificent. With his graceful wings stretched wide and the heavenly rays of sunshine raining down on him, Paquette manages to give this green beast an angelic quality while at the same time maintaining the ferocity and power this Swamp Thing needs to defeat the agents of the rot...

Life vs. Death. Desert vs. Swamp. Paquette vs. Rudy? 0

See, THIS cover wouldn't have been as ruined by the banner as the previous one. Look at all that spare room at the top! Sigh... Nice cover though. A little close to being boring, but I think the positioning of Swamp Thing's hand really makes this work. Plus, as usual, little border thing on the bottom.I'me a huge critic of multiple artists without justification. That said, I have NO complaints with the use of Yanick Paquette and Marco Rudy in the same issue. Rudy's been taking over a few issues ...
