Superman
Character » Superman appears in 18942 issues.
Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland as Clark Kent. Using his immense solar-fueled powers, he became Superman to defend mankind against all manner of threats while championing truth, justice, and the American way!
What is your favourite version of Superman?
@joshmightbe: maybe because they ruined the ending? SuperBat was much more interesting than another generic version of Superman.
Mine would have to be Byrne's and Kingdom Come. DCAU and Red Son tie in a close third.

Birthright. I'll never understand why they felt the need to replace it with all that silver age nonsense in Secret Origin.
Execs kissing Johns' big fat a*s?

Probably, there was just no need for it. It came out in like 2010, by that time they must have been well into the planning stages of the New 52 so why bother putting it out there, taking our money only for the book to be reconned less than a year later.
@azza04: Well I guess Secret Origin was already funded by the time the post-Flashpoint retcon was conceived. IIRC I've heard rumours of Secret Origin way back in 07 or 08.

Oh right I didn't no that...still it was sort of pore planning on DC's part but i'm sure they wern't to bothered, no doubt they made a ton of money from Secret Origins and it's no skin off their backs thats it was reconned so quickly.
Kingdom Come
Birthright
Classic Superman (Pre-flashpoint), as Deranged Midget called him.
I really don't like the new 52 Superman (yet anyway).
I really don't like the new 52 Superman (yet anyway).Me neither. He's been far too much of a downer, it's been like "Grounded" all over again. I want a Supes like in New Krypton again.

Well, even besides that. He just doesn't feel like Superman to me. I know the Action Comics one is in his youth, and reflects the Golden Age Supes. But it just doesn't feel right. And the other 52 comics with Superman in it, just isn't Superman to me.
No, I absolutely agree. I love the young, brash Supes that Morrison has created, but the modern Superman is a stranger.@Kal'smahboi said:

Waid's Superman. In his youth, he was a boyscout, but in a tasteful way. Then, as leader of the JLA, he's forced to make tougher decisions, while still being tough and fair. Then, even as an old man in Kingdom Come, he's still the same Man of Steel he was when he was just starting out, regardless of the stuff he's seen and had to live with.
Even though he's not my favorite version of Superman, Earth 1 Supes is really close to the number 1 spot.

Both versions are well written
All-star Superman, this story is what made me a superman fan
Pre-Flashpoint superman. And anything superman written by Geoff Johns I loved how he potrayed the charecter.
I was Skeptical at first because it seemed like they had drastically changed the charecter to appeal to hipsters. But, it turned out that he was essentially the same charecter just with a few tweaks to modernize him a bit and the charecter has grown on me. Thats why i find it stupid when people say the pre-flashpoint superman sucked but the new 52 superman is awesome when both charecters have nearly the same personality and morals and both have the same high power level that is associated with superman.
@TheBane2890: Any comic book fan worth their weight in salt knows that very few people stay dead in comic books.
