Wow, I was going to come in here and say something special but it looks like you guys already covered it. Superman is the greatest superhero in my opinion. And as I once heard, everyone else puts their masks on to become a superhero (or else don't wear any), Superman is the only one that removes his. That is, he is Superman first, and Clark is just his alter-ego.
I would disagree he will never kill but agree with all your other points. If neccessary he will kill.

He is the most virtous super hero with the highest integrity. One you can count if you need him that won't pass judgment like Batman. One of the best costumes, symbols, and color designs. A awsome sounding theme One that inspires to be better and be like him. He has the most positve mindset that sees the good in people and is a constant do gooder. The Most Imitated and Merchandised Super Hero He was the world's first comic book super hero.
Ok in the one issue story Superman vs Darkseid Apokolips Now Superman beats him so hard that it Darkseid's became swollen shut as a result. I would say that's impressive to shut up the disrespectful arrogant overconfident sadstic very evil super villain who called him a worm.

Irrespective of his massive powers, he 'clothes' himself in a normal human identity and so is close to and understands the common man / mortals. This keeps him grounded.
Duty, Honour, Self-sacrifice, respect, truth etc etc. All these words describe him but no single word captures all that he is except possibly Heroic.
He sets the bar by which others are judged, be it morals or power level.

I disagree he will never kill. He proved that in Superman Doomsday. He'll break his no kill when it's extremly neccessary. HP Doomsday was extremly neccessary because he's a Savage Beast that won't stop killing because violence and killing has become his way of life after being driven insane having experienced so much sorrow time,after time, after time.
I love the fact that Superman despite how powerful he really is, tends to hold back half the time...if he really cut loose and went full potential forget it...lol but everyone has to know that's not what Superman's about. :)
