    Superman grew up in Kansas, a midwestern state. A very conservative state.

    I ask mainly as he is dating Wonder Woman, who comes from a society that is long all but said to be made up of Lesbians who distrust men....recently retconned into 'I want kids' man killing lesbians (See WW 7). Kansas has a constitutional amendment against gay marriage.

    I have no idea how he was raised by the Kents when it comes to politics. And since people are looking for ways to destroy the pairings like Hermoine-Harry fans after Harry-Ginny, or Zutaras after Kataangs.....might as well bring up a valid argument

    Oh yeah, I remember when that issue first came out, the story was even on the news headlines. Seemed to be a controversial move at the time.

    @Supes1903: @mr.obvious: He renounced his citizenship because he felt that he shouldn't have national ties. He almost started an international incident because he supported the Iranian protests of their government, and thought that he should be able to help Iranians without starting a war. Exactly, you put into words what I was really trying to convey and is summed up by the last part of your statement. "Superman is for everybody, not just Americans."

    Superman doesn't really need any political views.

    We engage in politics because it takes many supporting an idea to get political traction.

    Superman can pretty much do whatever he wants, and does.

    @krspaceT:

    Its a form of politics or society that in principle is based of liberal market economy principles, but at the same time consider the key task for the government to provide social security for the individual through for example: public healthcare and free education etc.

    This is where it varies from traditional liberalism where you are very much your own provider, you can say that in a traditional liberal society ''youre the architect of your own fortune''. In a social liberal state you support the liberal market, yet the state should still provide social security as you see it in socialist(most european) countries.

    @Skunkstein: Neet....though does it have any social generalities. Part of the reason I made this thread was due to reflecting how Superman and Wonder Woman are together now, and how Superman may feel on a, at least pre New 52, all but directly said lesbian society.

    You have to admit its a way to get rid of the pairing if you hate it, as many do

    Usually Social liberals have left winged social values and closer to borderline right winged economical values and support stuff like gay marriage, global market competetition, an egalitarian society in which people do not face discrimination on the basis of their race, sexual orintation, gender etc. and have overall very few generalities.

    @Wboy: You could probably argue that in the New 52....but pre New 52 you did have her mother and one of her guards, with both Gail and Dido wanting to have them married.

    Guessing you got that from the threadin the WW section. I am gonna say this which I will also use from the thread:

    @SCORPIO_CASSADINE said:

    I stand corrected. Gail Simone was wrong in that like she was with so many other things about Wonder Woman. It's been 70 years, and for most of those she was in love with Steve Trevor. She's been paired with several other men though and no women. Io was clearly in love with her, but it went unrequited. Forcing her to be bisexual would be a terrible cliché designed to appease closed minded people that think that because she comes from an island of women she MUST be gay, and the thought of that is asinine to me. The new 52 Wonder Woman is enough like Xena already.

    In Marvel, parent's kick out their flesh and blood with super powers

    In DC, parents find children in rockets who can juggle mountains, and raise him as their own

    You know, I just thought of a neat elseworld: a story where another set of parents finds young Clark.....who have a little boy named Bruce.....

    My guess is Superman believes people from other planets have the right to become American citizens. My guess is Superman believes vigilantes have the right to beat up each other. My guess is Superman believes everyone has the right to own property in space. My guess is Superman believes that everyone has the right to report on whatever news. My guess is Superman believes in the right to visit whatever country in secret. My guess is Superman believes in the right of everyone to own pets from other planets.

    Pre-new 52 he was championing truth, justice, and the american way which if you look at it can sound pretty conservative to some. And at the beginning of the new 52 he was fighting corrupt business dealers, writing articles about social injustice in metropolis, and fighting for the common man. Which can sound very liberal to some

    The human parents of Clark seem tolerant so Clark is probably quite tolerant of other races and maybe even quite tolerant of illegal immigrants or asylum seekers.

    Grant Morrison is writing a new Action Comics #1, and he's going back to the roots of Superman. Based on the cover image to the left, it looks like he's finally using an older pitch for the character he's wanted to use for a while: "I wanted to do a story of Superman's first year in Metropolis when he wasn't so powerful and he was a bit more of a liberal activist."

    http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2011/06/10/today-in-nerd-superman-goes-liberal-and-dc-comics-is-going-to-try-to-sell-comics-to-a-broader-audience

    @colonyofcells: "The human parents of Clark seem tolerant so Clark is probably quite tolerant of other races and maybe even quite tolerant of illegal immigrants or asylum seekers."

    That was dealt with on Smallville, when migranst workers came to work in Kansas. Clark is fine with illegal aliens, since he is once himself.
