God bless Gary Frank. I usually don't go on about artwork too much in my reviews but not gushing about it would be a crime. Gary Frank is drawing a love letter to the Christopher Reeve Superman with a modern twist and it could not look better. There are a number of splash pages that I literally gasped upon seeing. Retelling the origin of Superman with Geoff Johns seems like the job of a lifetime but Frank doesn't miss a beat.
It's Clark's first day at the Daily Planet and times are tough for everyone... except for Lex Luthor. Johns puts a different spin on Metropolis than I'm used to but I willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. We even get to see as Clark follows Lois on an assignment. The difference is personalities comes across easily and their dynamic is quickly established along with those of the Daily Planet employees.
I'm not going to go into too much more story detail because even though it's a longer issue very little happens. In other comic book this might be a problem but for Superman Secret Origin it works just fine.
