Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland as Clark Kent. Using his immense solar-fueled powers, he became Superman to defend mankind against all manner of threats while championing truth, justice, and the American way!
Jonathan Kent, married to Martha Kent, is the adoptive father of Clark Kent, who is better known as Superman. Before his recent death, he was a rural farmer in Kansas. He is sometimes referred to as Pa Kent, and sometimes as Eben Kent.
Martha Kent and her husband Jonathan Kent are the adoptive parents of Clark Kent (aka Kal-El / Superman). She also helps raise and provide guidance to other members of the superfamily, including Superboy and Supergirl.
Lois Lane is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist for the Daily Planet of Metropolis. She was the first reporter to interview Superman after he first appeared in Metropolis. Superman later revealed his secret identity to her; the two married and have a son, Jon Kent.
The City Editor of the Daily Planet, the newspaper where Clark Kent (Superman) works. A gruff and hard taskmaster, but a very loveable character.
Jimmy Olsen is a photojournalist working at the Daily Planet, as well as a close friend of both Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
She heads the Entertainment and Arts section of the Daily Planet. She recently returned to Metropolis from Los Angeles, but had to get away from Metropolis when a (recently revealed) robot Toyman killed her son.
Jor-El was a major Kryptonian scientist on the Kryptonian Science Council, the biological father of Superman, and the husband of Lara Lor-Van. He discovered the Phantom Zone and invented the Phantom Zone projector.
Lara Lor-Van is a Kryptonian Scientist as well as the biological mother of Superman and wife to Jor-El.
Lex Luthor, Superman's arch-nemesis, is one of the most brilliant men alive, whose hatred of "interfering aliens" pushes him down the path of a sociopath. Known for his "ends justifies the means" approach to life, his single-minded and often brutal focus puts him at odds with The Man of Steel. Luthor is arguably DC Comics' most iconic villain.
Miss Teschmacher is Lex Luthor's somewhat loyal secretary and his assumed girlfriend.
Jason Lane-White is the son of Superman and Lois Lane in the Superman movies universe.
Richard White is the husband of Lois Lane, the stepfather of Jason White and the nephew of Perry White. He's not a part of the mainstream DC-Universe and first appeared in the movie "Superman Returns".
Kitty Kowalski is the right hand of Lex Luthor. She was created for the Superman Returns movie and doesn't belong to the DCU-mainstream.
Otis is one of Lex Luthors employees. He was created for the film "Superman" (1978) and was later introduced into the "Smallville: Season 11" comics.
