    Mistaken Identity

Lately,Dan Slott's writing for Superior Spider-Man has been amazing. He's been throwing one curveball after another with big surprises and jaw-dropping reveals.I thought that that was all going to change with this issue.I look at issues like these as filler issues until the next big event or next jaw-dropping issue. But this issue, surprisingly, surprised me and delivered the same punch that an issue of Superior Spider-Man always delivers.SPOILERS FOLLOW!

    The Good:

First off, I'd like to say that I wasn't expecting very much from this issue.I was expecting no development with Carlie's subplot and no other exciting events except for a battle between Stunner and Spock and that was about it.But there was a whole lot more in this issue. Not only did we get to see an actually well done and well handled fight between Stunner and Spock(making her a more formidable villain than I thought she would be) but we also got to see a big development in Lamaze's accusations from last issue and the return of Doc Ock,as well as Carlie moving forward with her case on Spock.I didn't think of Stunner as a meaningful villain until this issue turned into a race against time for Spock's bots to stop the machine that was powering her avatar. Then she turned into a greater threat that really challenged Spock's abilities. We also got to see the return of Doc Ock(as an avatar) and got to see him under the control of Spock put a quick end to Lamaze's accusations. This added some humor to the issue and I enjoyed it.One of the events that I really enjoyed though was getting to surprisingly see Carlie(having thought we wouldn't see her take any actions on her findings for another few issues). Sure, it might have been not very bright for her to visit Peter's grave before going to the Avengers but it was a cool scene nonetheless that advanced the plot more with questions like what happened to Ock's body and what will the Green Goblin do with the information found in Carlie's journal?P.S Nice Menace cameo by the way!

    The Bad:

Honestly, this issue surprised me by how it great it was.The real action starts next issue with "Darkest Hours" but this was the calm before the storm.

    The Verdict:

This was a great issue that further developed the nearing "Goblin Nation" event while also handling situations from past issues. It's great to see Slott's writing streak still going strong and I can't wait for "Darkest Hours".

My last review from this series, Superior Spider-Man #20. Trouble happens, when Stunner comes into town looking to avenge the death of her beloved, Doc Ock!The GoodHow will, THIS, come into play?In this issue's story, a couple of things happen. First, the Superior Spider-Man has to deal with [possibly] not getting his doctorate for, "Plagiarizing", the thesis of Doctor Otto Octavius (Doc Ock), plus he has to deal with Stunner coming back and looking to get revenge on Spider-Man for, "Killing", D...

Though Stunner isn't the most complex or interesting of villains, Slott's writing and general humor help to make this one of the more focused and enjoyable issues in a while for the series. And, with a much more pleasant art style to accompany it, there isn't much holding it back, other than a somewhat rushed conclusion to one of the plot threads here. However, this leads into what I hope is a plot with a lot of potential. And, as Slott has shown us before, his game is certainly long-term....
