Continues from Adventures of Superman Annual #6
The book opens in the rebels hideout. Superman is talking with Lana Lang, and they walk into a training area to see Batman training civilians how to fight, and Superboy sparring with Wonder Woman. During the training Lana reveals to Superman that she knows how to save Lois Lane.
They make a plan to save her, and Lana leaves to avoid suspicion from the hoard. Yet when they arrive on the scene, they find that an ambush is waiting for them. The rebels manage to make an escape, but not without the sacrifice of one of their own.
As they return to their base the heroes are licking their wounds. Batman hatches a plan that requires him to knock Superboy out. Batman shows up at a horde base, saying he is carrying the renegade Superman.
they allow him in, and he and Superboy destroy the base from within.
This sparks off the final battle, where no holds are barred, and we see hero after hero fall to the cause. Yet 2 make a stand against the powerfull leader of the horde and do their best to free Earth.
