    1. The Air Bandits From Outer Space: (Captain Comet, written by John Broome under the pen name Edger Ray Merritt) something resembling a giant spinning top appears in the desert. anyone who gets near it dies and it seems to take no damage when an A-bomb is dropped on it. earth's atmosphere is thinning as more tops appear all around the world. Adam Blake in his new guise as Captain Comet goes to confront it. seemingly immune to whatever was killing everyone else, he is able to tear his way inside and finds that it is controlled remotely. figuring out how he can see radio waves he tracks the signal into space so he goes back to the lab and builds a rocket ship. tracking the signal he finds a massive alien ship on the dark side of the moon. there is no atmosphere on the ship but there are a lot of aliens in suspended animation. he finds a caretaker who telepathically tells him that his people are refugees from a planet with no air, it fact air kills him, and that's why the tops are removing earth's atmosphere so his people can colonize. but Comet shows the alien all its people are dead and it kills itself.
    2. The Other Earths: (by Manly Wade Wellman) a man is traveling to earth-like worlds and finds they are exact copies, including their history. on the first world, he finds Troy just as the horse is being brought in and reveals its secret. next, he arrives in a version of Washington DC just in time to save Lincon. finally, he returns home just in time to stop the assassination of some UN delegates.
