Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17241 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
Who is the best artist for Spider-man?
In no particular order; Ditko, Deodato, John Romita Sr., JRJR, Bagely, Martin, Lark, Wieringo, Weeks
The best of the best, and the best artists that exemplify the style of their contemporaries and peers, in my opinion, of course.
John Romita Sr. is a classic artist, however I always thought that his Spider-Man looked like a much bigger man than Peter, as though he literally bulked up when he put on the costume, overrall a minor complaint, but it just nags at me.
I'm kind of surprised that I haven't seen anyone comment on Caselli, I love his art (the eyes on Spider-Man's suit are a little small, but that is such a minor gripe), it would appear that he has an issue with output though since he rarely seems to do many issues in a row. To help people find the guy I'm talking about he did the prologue and epilogue for the recent Spider-Island event, among others.
I love Bagley, he, more than any other, seems to get the idea that Spider-Man is a short, thin, agile man, whilst still being muscular. Over the years all of his stuff has been fantastic!
I also like Mark agley and Ron Garney. I think the "old school" and more comic-y art is best fit for Spider-Man instead of the Clayton Craynes.
John Romita Sr gave us THE definitive, classic Spider-Man; he also designed a large portion of Spidey's rogues gallery (the Kingpin, for example), not to mention a certain red-head. Love love love the Spider-Man comics I've read from his tenureship.
For me, John Romita Jr is the definitive modern Spider-Man artist. The way he draws Spidey is they way Spidey should look: I'm thinking details, like the size of his eye-pieces and the shape of the symbol on his back, all of it just feels right (partly because its close to Romita Sr). What's more, for my money JRJR draws definitive versions of Spidey's supporting cast: when I think of Jonah, Mary Jane, Aunt May, Betty Brant I think of his drawings. I feel like JRJR drawing Spider-Man is where my comic book enthusiasm started and it feels like "home", I love it.
His style is maybe not for everybody, but I would recommend people who are critical of him go and look at the work he did for the JMS run on Spider-Man: some of his stuff from that run is absolutely gorgeous.
@cmpunk4life: I agree that the artist with we grew up,is our favourite, so i grew up with Bagley Amazing, and (specificly) Ultimate so...i say him, but i like (of cource) Mcfarlane and Romita.... :)

I still stand by my original statement with the addition of Romita Jr.
There are a few more but a recent addition that comes to mind is Stefano Caselli.
One artist who I really don't like doing the art for Spider-Man is Humberto Ramos. His artwork is so jarring that it looks horrible.
