I really hate Spider-Ock because he doesn't act like either Peter or Otto. Which doesn't make a lick of sense.
Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17252 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.

Isn't that the point?

He's a mix of their personalities, thus he should have bits from both of them.
The only thing from Ock I see is arrogance and that's it.

His speech is also affected. I don't remember peter saying YOU STUPID BRUTE or DOLTS
@mccoym2: I actually think the opposite haha. I liked #1, but 2 and 3 haven't done a whole lot for me. Well, I did think it was good the way #2 handled the MJ-SpOck thing. I think my biggest problem right now is that I'm actually wanting a 3 issue storyline or maybe even a 6 issue. I'm just not feeling the one issue minor stories right now. Also, am I the only one who hates Carlie?
@Sprayer1218: Charlie is a twit. Generally. But she seems to be the only one that thinks something is different about Peter, mind you it took Peter in Ottos body telling her that he was Spider-man to push her into this path of thought but at least they are addressing this. Someone close to Peter will have to know that he is acting strange. I to did really enjoy how MJ was handled and when Ock relived intimate moments of Peters and MJ that was just the perfect amount of creepy. I really thought that Peter in Otto's memories and Ocks compassion for Vulture were really good points in #3. The art was a lot better as well. I found anyways. The arc's will come back so I am not really worried about that.
@mccoym2: Oh yeah, the art has been great IMO. I'm also kind of tired of seeing "Peter's ghost," or whatever that is. I don't need to constantly see it in every panel. Kind of getting old quick you know?
@Sprayer1218: I understand what your saying. I think Slott is doing this to balance out the character. I would be more disappointed in it if all the book was was SpOck running around being a condescending douche without any of the classic spidey humor and wit. But yes Peter doesnt need to be in every panel, I agree with that. Hes not in all of them but a lot and his presence doesnt add to every panel. He should only be there when it can add to the panel. I agree with you there
If you haven't read issue 3 yet, stop or carry on at own risk
Just read issue 3, and I believe I said previously when I listed the issues SSM will be appearing in, what I said was that "this could be an important issue" and I believe I have been proven right, because what it shows is that Carlie just realised what Peter told her in 700 was true and the Peter that's in-front of her isn't Peter at all due to what he did to the Vulture. Although she doesn't say it out right, her speech and expression tells that whole story and is backed up by what Ghost Peter says. Because of this realisation, I have feeling that Carlie's life might be in danger from SpOCK and that it would visited down the line, possibly in issues 7+8
Well I've just finished reading issue 3 of SSM, and I must say it's quite enjoyable. I like SpOck's inventions and how he's using them. I especially liked him taking down the Spider Signal and how he started viewing the Vulture now he's on the other side of the mask. Does make me wonder if we'll start getting more reflection by SpOck on how he used to behave.
Also, does anyone know how the Spider Signal got rebuild? SpOck blew it up in the opening scene, but now it's fixed? I can see that JJJ might have rebuilt it for show, or even that SpOck might have done so to allow him to perform his blinding trick. However, I would have liked to have seen it be done, seemed to come out of left field...
P.S.: First post, good to be here! :)
@animehunter: I hope SpOck doesn't do anything stupid but try to explain the situation. Maybe it's too much from Grant Morrison's Animal Man where the heroes solve the problem with the bad guy by immediately punching. Though SpOck still has the arrogance of Doc Ock, he is trying to do good. I think it would be interesting to see how the Marvel Universe deals with a bad guy who's trying to be good but it cost them one of their good guys. Wolverine killed a hero while under the influence of the Hand (IIRC) and has attacked numerous heroes before yet people trust him. I would like to see how Wolverine would deal with knowing someone who always annoyed him was dead and the killer was trying to redeem himself. Would he allow the redeemer to continue or would he try to put him in jail, negating Parker's influence of turning a bad guy good?
@captain_oblivious: I can't see any real effort for redemption. All I see is a pseudo-masculinity contest, where SpOck tries to prove to himself he's better than his adversary. It's all about himself. Again. As Dr. Octopus he wanted to show to the world he's a super-genius who can do anything. Now he tries to show to the world he's a better Spiderman (that's why he says they'll see the difference). He's just an arrogant, selfish, swollen-headed, egotistic son of...person...

@Dark_Guyver: That term will always be used to describe the whole Superior story line once it's over.
I could think of a few better terms to describe this garbage :)

Question for those who've read issue 3: Did the Vulture die in this issue, or did he just get really jacked up?
I answered that question here: Did Superior Spiderman Kill Someone!? (Spoilers)
but to clarify
I don't believe he killed him, it was more he hurt him very badly, as mentioned by Carlie in the image below, she also never say "you killed him" only that he is "Burnt and cut to pieces"
Plus he would have been protected from any fatal injuries by the suit he was wearing, SSM explains the suit here
@animehunter:
Wow, For SSM 9 The synopsis is:
"The time has come to see who will live, who will die, and who will emerge as the one, true Superior Spider-Man!" And another website writes:"The hottest comic in comics comes to a turning point that will get you angrier than you were after Spidey #700!"
And for SSM 10 The synopsis is:
"A perfect jumping on point as The Green Goblin returns…and Spider-Man is nowhere to be found!"
Hard to believe it's not even 12 issues into the series and they're already promoting a " Perfect Jumping on Point."

Wow.....i mean i didnt expect a Bagley cover..!

So "The Other" showed up in Scarlet Spider recently, and made it sound as if Peter was destine to die because he rejected him. Interesting.
Yeah,its.....interesting....

Anyone noticed Superior Spider-Man NEVER hang "upside down" stance....you know the classic!
He hasn't really been in a situation where he needs to on panel yet.

@Ninjablade09: Still....its something Peter would do!....
EDIT: I was wrong......Daredevil comic....

HEY, GUYS!!!! It's amazing! No! It's superior! I've just found a scan from SSM 05 !!! It's Otto doing a trick with his spidey-powers, a trick that Peter never thought of! Otto is truly the real Spiderman.

Avenger
Issue 12 - Synopsis & Cover out May 2013 (Is the Superior Spider-man riding a giant TURKEY uhhh could be a CHICKEN, you be the judge)
If you read the solicits of previous issues (1-9) and other team-up issues they always referred to Spider-Ock as Superior spider-man, now starting with issue 10 of Superior Spider-man they have left out the Superior and just refer to him simply as Spider-man. To me this might be an indication it is Peter, because he would never call himself Superior, only Spider-Ock / SpOck ever did that.
I realise this isn't absolute proof of Peter's return and circumstantial at best, but you might agree, it is food for thought.
@animehunter
I wish you were right, but I don't think that's the case.
ISSUE #20 - THE CHAMELEON SANCTION PART 1 of 2
• Can Spider-Man keep his secrets while facing off with the Secret Avengers?
• SHIELD has the Chameleon. The Superior Spider-Man wants him. Time to break into the SHIELD Helicarrier!
out Approx May 22rd 2013
@Phaedrusgr: I took that into consideration, but I feel issues 20 & 21 would still be SpOck, even though Peter might return in Superior Spider-man #10. It would be similar to when they started Superior Spider-Man #1, Peter was still around as Spider-man in Avengers 1 to current issue and to be replaced by Superior Spider-man in issue 12.
It could be these issue/stories where written months before issue 10 was to be released.
Dont know about you guys....but i really enjoyed #4......i am the minority, but really i enjoyed it!....i like Comuncolli and really enjoyed Slott in this one!....,start bashing,i'll understand
Green Goblin isnt sure that he's Normy......remember Kingsley said to Urich, when he beat him, that he will be working for him?..ASM#697...maybe its him,in Normy's costume....(although,i want Norman to be Goblin again....he;s my favourite villian ever....behind him Joker...and i really want him to return, after a loooong time!....[after New Ways To Die])
@animehunter: Also,i would love the prospect of Superior Peter Parker(Pete ,not ock)....y'know,Peter but with Superior suit......iz'awesome!!
Finally broke down and picked up Superior 1-4. Have to say the art in 1-3 is great but the story felt kind of short and rushed. But then I read 4 and man was it actually good. I haven't read Amazing since like issue 593. So I haven't read the first Massacre arc. But I have to say the art was fantastic and the killer last page was great. I cant wait for issue 10 with Spidey vs. Goblin. I been waiting for that since New ways to die. Really enjoyed that arc.
