WHICH SPIDEY SHOW REIGNS SUPREME???

TAS has more episodes & seasons

Spectacular has stronger writing within its supporting cast

TAS has more guest stars

Spectacular has more fleshed out villans

Etc....

I could point out the postives of both shows all day, but I would pick Spectacular, simply because it had more to offer in terms of writing.

I grew up with TAS, but Spectacular is honestly the better show. Not like it's a fair comparison, though. Cartoons have evolved a good deal since then.

EXACTLY this. Back in the day Spider-Man couldnt even throw a punch due to censorship, while one of Spectacular's biggest draws was its amazing action. Its hardly fair. But I will say that Spectacular is way better. Nearly all of Marvel's 90's shows are HORRIBLY dated even though they are sometimes fun to watch for nostalgias sake.

Personally, I like TAS better, since it has more crossovers, and shows that not only is Spidey important to New York, but to the whole universe! I love the Beyonder arc in the series, from The secret war trio episodes, to the very last episode, where Spider-Man meets Stan Lee. It's fantastic.

I prefer the TAS simply because in my opinion its given the best representation of the Marvel U out of the two (Black costume was beastly in that show). I also liked the fact They took a different slant on Peter and didn't make him a kid like all the other shows did. It was good to see a more adult Parker.

Spectacular wins by default since most of the time I saw TAS, it was on different language. Don't remember the language.

this too, I liked how they did adult Peter, so he could do more adult plots, and serious things.

Same here. I never understood why TAS was so highly praised.

There are some individual episodes of TAS that I think are quite strong. Take Doctor: Octopus: Armed and Dangerous (I think its episode 3 of the first season?): cool villain, lots of drama, some funny Spidey one-liners and a great pace to the whole thing. Later, the show became increasingly nuts and I think they went a bit overboard with the guest-stars. That being said, although I'm not a huge fan of a lot of the situations they put him in, I really like the Spider-Man from that show.

I feel a bit mixed with Spectacular. It's a great show period but I've never felt like it's "my" Spider-Man. (Please tell me if that's a dumb thing to say.)

To sum up, I think I might slightly prefer TAS, although I acknowledge it really isn't as good as Spectacular.

All I have to say to quell this argument is that in Spider-Man TAS, Electro was THE SON OF THE RED SKULL!

Spectacular built up all the characters that would eventually become villains. Venom in that show was the best Venom we'll get.

this is exaclty right, it was much better to see an adult semi cool parker. plus i liked almost all of the portrayals of the characters.

all the cross overs were great, ironman and war machine, to wolverine and the xmen.

i loved this show.

VENOM? venom was peter's High school buddy! Eddie was smart and worked in a lab. That

was a horrible portrayal of eddie brock. Maybe as strictly venom he was fine,

but TAS displayed venom/eddie WAY better IMO. Yeah the red skull’s son thing

was stupid, but its not like it ruined the show.

This. I grew up watching TAS so it's probably nostalgia but some of these episodes were really great, The Venom Saga being my favorite part of the show ;p

So a smart Eddie/Venom is horrible now? At least he was actually insane and had a good reason to kill Spidey? Eddie in the comics and TAS was some idiot who blamed him for ruining his job for no reason.

Spectacular >>>>>>>> MTV >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> TAS

TAS really didn't have a lot going for it. It's re-watch value is virtually nil. Bad pacing, too many guest-stars, terrible and frequently reused animation, it was butchered by the censors. Just not a great series at all.
That said, Spidey and Black Cat <3

Compare it to X-Men: TAS and it doesn't hold up at all. If you want to be really unfair, compare it to Superman or Batman TAS.

Eddie in TSSM was better than Eddie in the comics.

Perfect blend of what worked with Ultimate and what worked with 616.

Like most of you on here, I grew up with TAS as well, in fact it was my first introduction to the web-head, and while I do have some fond memories of that show, Spectacular Spider-man is truly the superior series. Great writing, fantastic artwork, and phenominal action make this show the clear choice in my book. It also sports the greatest treatment of the symbiote suit and the dynamic between Peter Parker and Eddie Brock that I have ever seen in any Spidey media. More shows should strive to be like this one... (and Young Justice...)
