Spidey Homecoming seems to be that answer, and rightfully so. Too many fans want their own interpretation of Peter Parker, and the convoluted plots that come with it. I want Spidey at his most abstract and yet basic to hit on all cylinders, because really everyone in the fanbase seems to think they know how Spider-Man is supposed to be as a story, even the movie knows you can't please em all so they are resetting the dial and making Spider-Man basically reinvented with a clean slate and original ideas.
I wish they did this generally for the comics, at least slott is moving the character forward into a new direction and no I don't care what you think, Peter doesn't need MJ to move forward because he's the main character and it's generally a good idea not to bring the past into a brand new status quo in order to reinvent a comic icon like Spidey. In the end, Spider-Man is the only character I care about, everyone else is just a decoration that doesn't dictate a pre set way Spider-Man stories are told and in order to keep it simple make Spidey simple if not the main focus as a story about Spidey.
Three things that can make make Spidey last forever as a story no matter how different it is.
Spider Bite
Uncle Shot
Power and Responsibility
This is what the Spider Verse meta story established, every spider-man is at it basis the building blocks of those three ideas(some are strayed differently from the main origin but all spider-men share the last concept on the list) and why they are awesome hero stories. No MJ, no Marriage, no dead end life, no clones. Just simple trial and error.
