With recent news that Mary Jane is now a member of Tony Stark's supporting cast, it reminded me of a previous encounter between the two characters, that time when Tony and MJ apparently had an affair. Well not really, there's more to it than that. Someone said.
Back in 2005, during JMS's run on ASM, Spider-Man became part of Iron Man's New Avengers, but since their home in Forrest Hills was destroyed in the previous story-arc called Skin Deep, Peter, Aunt May and Mary Jane had nowhere to live. Tony Stark offered them to live in a penthouse in Stark Tower, since Peter is now an Avenger and technically works for Stark anyway.
Things seemed cool for a while, but one night, while Peter and MJ were attending a gala, Peter was forced to leave early due to a pressing matter he had to attend to as Spider-Man, and thus forcing Mary Jane to return to Stark Tower by herself late at night. This is where complications take place.
MJ is confronted by a pesky newshound looking for some juicy gossip, and he puts MJ in an awkward position.
So, in an attempt to protect Peter's secret ID, MJ tells him that she's there to see Tony Stark, causing that pesky sleezball to make some assumptions.
She ends up on the Bugle's front page. Peter learns of this the next morning...
... and he's not too happy. And we get this gem of a moment right here...Logan should have saw this coming..ouch!
In the end though everyone's a good sport about it.
However, Stark later solves the issue by revealing that he had hired Peter as his personal photographer and well uses his own influence to make this all go away.
Well that's basically it then. A fun trip down memory lane. I wonder if that little scandal will be referenced in Iron Man's new series. Thoughts?
