Eddie Brock will always be the definitive version of Venom, and is also my pick. On the other hand, Flash as Venom during his original series serving as an agent for Project Rebirth was kinda cool, but the whole Guardians of the Galaxy and Agent of Cosmos gimmick is in my opinion a huge misstep and is ruining this interpretation of Venom.

@theexile285: I didn't like the way Venom was portrayed during the Guardians series. He barely got any scenes, and was simply put there to hopefully reel in more fans. The whole planet of the symbiotes arc didn't quite do it for me, and that new costume design at the end was a step down from his previous military-esque looking symbiote.
With Venom being an agent of cosmos, I think it just detracts to much from Venom as a whole. As much as the symbiotes originate from another planet, Venom has always been a more grounded, earth-bound character, and I like it that way. Plus the villains his going up against just do not do it for me.
Venom belongs lurking in dark NYC/San Fran graffiti covered alleyways annihilating scum punks for jaywalking and purse snatching,eating brains,being a sociopath,hanging out combat-wise with brick dudes like Juggernaut and terrorizing Spiderman & his family members.Dont care about Agent Venom,Mac Gargan,Flash Thompson,Space Knight.Its all crap.A diversion.I know it ain't the '90s anymore but they gotta get back to basics here.
I like Eddie Brock the most. I wonder though...will Marvel actually bring Eddie Brock back in the spotlight. We last saw him taking over the Toxin Symbiote talking with Flash and then he was just gone afterwards.
Eugene Flash Thompson in second place, but that was before he became a Space Knight and member of The Guardians of The Galaxy. I liked him better when he was a member of the Thunderbolts and deployed in black ops by the U.S. Government.
The Alien costume is not called Venom. Venom is Eddie Brock's alter ego. the Alien costume's name is the Symbiote.
to answer your question Eddie, Cletus and Peter are my favourite symbiote hosts. and Eddie is my favourite character to go by the name Venom.
The Symbiote calls itself Venom and it has had multiple hosts.
Cletus did not bond with the Venom Symbiote, he bonded with the Carnage Symbiote.
Sorry dude I don't like to disagree with people but you're wrong. here is how it actually happened. when Eddie escaped from the cell he and Cletus Kasady were sharing the broken bars scraped off a piece of the symbiote which attached itself to Cletus therefore creating Carnage.

The Carnage symbiote is the Spawn(or child) of Venom as the Klyntar (Venom's species) reproduce asexually. Cletus even says this in the scan you posted.
