Awesome Toy Picks: LEGO - Spider-Man's Doc Ock Ambush

Posted by gmanfromheck (41189 posts) - - Show Bio

Each week we like to take a close hands on look at cool comic book collectibles. When it comes to Lego, you get the joy of putting them together as well as checking out the finished product. When the earlier Marvel Lego sets were released (Avengers Quinjet, Hulk Helicarier Breakout and Wolverine's Chopper Showdown), there was a picture of 'Spider-Man's Doc Ock Ambush' with Spidey, Doc Ock and Iron Fist. Finally, I was able to track one down.

You look at that box and you can feel the excitement oozing out of the box. You'll notice there's only 295 pieces. What's cool is besides the three characters, you get a nice playset. Doc Ock might be a bit of a dweeb at times but this is a pretty cool lair he has. He even has a little vehicle if he or his arms get tired.

If you've built Lego a bunch of times, the key is sorting. The sets are often separated into numbered bags. Once you open the first, take the time to sort them out into the similar pieces. This way when you go through the directions, you can fly through the building process.

What does this all look like like put together?

"What's going on in here?"
"Aw, crap!"

Check out the detail in this playset.

"Psst, hey, it's me. I've been looking for you."
Hmm, I punched him so hard, his hair fell off."
"Later, suckers!"

I think it's pretty clear that this set kicks major butt. The set will cost you thirty bucks if you get it from the Lego website. I've never seen this one in stores for some reason so be sure to pick it up if you see it.

lego did a great job on the characters. I really like how they did spider-man's webs.

im guessing doc oc's face is two sided?

Iron Fist should have had some sort of glowy prop for his power.

How do you resist making custom figures with the DC and Marvel Lego sets?

What a great adventure. I get a 70`s comic-feeling, with with modern comic-feeling.

You guessed correctly.

Thank God. I need never buy another Marvel comic again. All i need is a Lego set and a camera. Yippee!

the heads of heroes with masks look ugly lego head style. the money spent on this would be better spent on a few real action figures.

Spider-Man's arms should be red, not blue. And Iron Fist's arms should be skin color, not green.

Doc Ock reminds me of lego harry potter.

I really love that Iron Fist.

Ock and Spidey? Ehhhh... Not as good as the Spider-Man 2 minifigs.

I also wondered why Doc Ock looked like an aged Harry potter - maybe they had extra heads left over

It's odd how some are so excited over this and others are just so bitter and negative. It's like we have a bunch of Clark Kant's around here.

@Cafeterialoca: well there is a idea. Lego Ozzy Osborn, KISS, AC DC and Guns N Roses sets.

Haha, SWEET. As a little kid, I would have been ALL OVER this thing........wait a second, I STILL want this. :P

Not as cool as the Arkham Asylum Lego set, but still pretty darn cool!

Why does Ock look so much like The Doctor from GI Joe: Rise of Cobra? O_o

Has this version of Doc Ock been featured in any comics/cartoons, or is this something Lego came up with?

It says "Ultimate Spider-Man" so I'm assuming they're going with the current animated version (I still haven't seen the last few episodes).

The most ridiculous thing i ever saw. But that Iron Fist is so adorkable, i would hug it to sleep every night. He's what makes that show so kick ass

If you'd told me a year ago that one day there'd be an Iron Fist Lego figurine I'd have called you a liar.

Spidey: "Alright, I got him on the ropes. Now, FIST HIM!"

Iron Fist: "I hate it when you say that..."
