We're at issue 16 already and I want to know are they going to actually ever going to be bringing Peter back from the dead?
Are they going to bring Peter back?
I think what really bugs me about Superior is there not being a clear end in sight. I read Issue 1, but only after I found out Obi-Wan Peter eventually disappears. I feel like if there's no Peter Parker in Spider-Man, I can't give Superior (the book) a fair shake until it's a complete story. If it drags on like the Clone Saga, reading it before the end would drive me insane.
Slott had the Superior idea since 600. That's close to four years of build up. I doubt he's going to have Peter return before 100. As he said, someone will eventually find out what's going on though so we might get some clues before the end of this year.
I obviously prefer Peter but I also like where SSM is going (since I know it isn't permanent) but I really can't see SSM lasting too much longer, especially as a bi-monthly series. How many years can the readers AND Slott take the whole "I will better than Peter Parker, I will take his life and be BETTER than him because I am The SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN!!!" mumbo jumbo. It'll get old real quick, in my opinion.
I really hope not. Death needs to be reestablished in comics. It needs to be a foreboding, permanent thing. But unfortunately, it is not, nor will it ever be, at least not in Marvel or DC. Peter will be back.
They tried making the dead stay dead but it quite frankly messed up stories because certain creators would kill characters for shock which would mess up other potential stories.
