It is night time at the Acheron Mansion in Washington. Gabe Acheron wakes to find himself face to face with a silver alien. His father Stewart hears the commotion and tries to rescue his son, but is instead stopped by extreme pain.

Denise Waters reports Ellie's abduction to the police. She is taken to the hospital for her injuries, burns received from being near the alien being. Upon her release, she spent much of her time at internet cafes attempting to get answers about her daughter. She is eventually kicked out of the location because she is scaring the other customers.

A man offers to let her use his computer at his house. But once there, he tries to assault Denise. She smashes his face with a bottle and escapes. Out on the street she runs into the same police officer she has run into twice previously, Lieutenant Morin. He offers his help.

Meanwhile, Ellie and Gabe are together in an unknown location. Ellie is able to astrally project to her mother, but quickly stops when the Silver Surfer arrives.
