    Origin

    The granddaughter of Rod Gaynor, the Golden Age Whip, Shelly Gaynor grew up to be a columnist for the Daily Recorder. A self-confessed superhero fetishist, when she learned of her grandfather's secret life she decided to resurrect the identity of the Whip to explore what it was like to be a "super cowboy." She chronicled her experience in sculpting her body to the demands of superhero work both in her column and in a book, and became a fairly successful superhero. Determined to take the next step in superheroism, and desperate to satisfy her need for adrenaline, she began to seek out a team.

    Shelly Gaynor was created by Grant Morrison and JH Williams III. She made her first appearance in Seven Soldiers #0

    Major Story Arcs

    Seven Soldiers of Victory

    Shelly joins up with the newest iteration of the Seven Soldiers under Vigilante. She travels to Arizona, where she and the team hunt the monstrous buffalo spider. She attacks it with her whip, but is thrown off the monster. She is killed along with the other Soldiers when Boy Blue summons Neh-Buh-Loh and the Sheeda, beginning their harrowing.

    Powers and Abilities

    Shelly has no known superhuman powers or abilities. She is in excellent physical shape and an Olympic-level athlete. She has trained extensively in unarmed combat. She is very skilled in the use of the whip as a weapon.

    Shelly carries a whip with a short spike on the butt end.
