Honestly if there was an option for more then 5 stars this book would have it. Reading this book can legitimately be called an experience, and it is a good one. Everything from the art the writing to the amazing story just blows you away every single page. If you do not like this I do not like you....

If you haven't heard of Saga, you probably don't follow comics all that closely. As of late, it is possibly the most well known and popular current indie series, besides East of West, and has garnered much attention and interest. I'm not often one to jump on the bandwagon, but for $8 a volume, I thought it was worth picking up.Now? Brian K. Vaughan creates something magical here, introducing the main characters in a very unique way. Vaughan also adds a lot of depth to the series through the unique narration, with the story being told by the couples child in a memoir fashion. I personally however was most interested at how much trouble this forbidden love has caused, with the main characters and their child having to go on the run in perilous conditions. Once I got into the story and understand its a tale designed 'never to be transferred onto a screen' (TV or Movie) then this captivating tale pulled me into its world like the novel at the centre of our Romeo and Juliet parents love life.Told in a 'when I was young' reminiscent style story it has many many characters, situations and a whole bunch of future fantasy mixed circumstances that very much strikes a cord with the modern reader.I found it very enthralling to see these alien creatures us...

Pros:My mind has exploded reading this. I heard it was good, but I wasn't expecting THIS.It is everything you could dream of. I would never have thought all those genres (sci-fi, fantasy, adventure, romance, action) brought together would have turned up anything, but messy and yet this chaotic vast world is done in such a way, it seems almost normal. There are no heroes, just aliens trying to survive in a war-struck universe. The art is amazing and I adore how unapologetically graphic it is. It ...

I'll say one thing for Mr. Vaughan: he can come up with some pretty engaging ideas. His execution of them, though, leaves for me much to be desired - though, perhaps more accurately, "much less" to be desired. As in, much less gratuitous language and sexual content (oh, and, sure, violence, too). I would be quite willing to give this four or even five stars without all of that extraneous detritus, but I am well aware of the mentality that says "it's just real life."
