    Very Weird. But Promising. 2

I just stepped into a comic book shop for the first time in a long while to pick up the first issue of Saga. Judging just by the cover, which shows a horned man, and a winged woman who is nursing a baby, I knew it was probably going to be a bit stranger than what I would normally pick up. But Brian K. Vaughn hasn't ever disappointed me before so I gave it a shot.I'll start by saying what everyone else already knows. This is a double-sized issue, and it doesn't have a single ad. And it's still ju...

What the eff did I just read? 0

What the eff did I just read? I was just browsing through my comic shop's shelves, looking for some Avengers Vs X-Men titles tie-ins that aren't on my pull list when I saw Saga. The name rang a bell, like something I should be checking out. The clean, simple, and mostly white cover drew my attention. The characters seemed like something out of WoW, which isn't normally my cup of tea. I'm not a huge fantasy person - the only fantasy series I've ever read is Discworld and that's almost like callin...

My Saga Issue One Review 0

As Vaughan builds up the universe in this issue, Staples takes us along for the ride. The pencils jump off the page (almost as if they are in 3D) to bring these characters, creatures and settings to life. I realize that a lot of the backgrounds are sparse or absent, but the expressions on the characters' faces and the details in the creations easily overcome that subtle flaw. Visually, this is a great book.I wouldn't describe this book as Star Wars at all. Star Wars was a band of characters gett...

    In The Beginning... 0

Ever since finishing Y the Last Man I could barely wait for Brian K. Vaughans next project. Saga is that next project, and it couldn't be more different. From Yorick's trials as the last man on Earth, to star crossed lovers in actual space. While the settings are nothing alike, the strong characters that Vaughn is famous for shine through from the very start. On top of that it's got sci-fi mixed with magic. Other worldly locations, intergalactic bounty hunters and weird aliens abound. Not to ment...

    Pretty good 0

If I had to describe this issue with one word, it would be unconventional. Staples' art is engaging and the execution is, at times, unusual, but everything works well together and manages to mesh quite nicely.I gave it four stars because while I enjoyed it, it wasn't all that amazing. As an aside, the plot summary for this page is pretty horrible.......

    Do yourself a favor..... 0

"Saga" is such a magnificent Graphic Novel. I stumbled across it by accident and it really did rekindle my thirst for high concept story telling that makes you laugh (for probably all the wrong reasons).... Fiona's Art is consitantly flawless and the writing is so all mind consuming that I literally constantly re-read issues just to relive the fun of the tale that they are both telling....
