Rogue
Character » Rogue appears in 6623 issues.
The adopted daughter of Mystique, Rogue was once a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Now reformed, Rogue has become a veteran member of the X-Men.
Magneto or Gambit?
Ok who is Rogue's true love? Magneto or Gambit? The reason I ask this is because Rogue is always going back and forth. In most universes she is marred to Magneto and they have a kid and in the main universe she is with Magneto and she was with his clone to.
I don't really think either of them is her true love so much as that she likes arrogant ex-villains.
" I don't really think either of them is her true love so much as that she likes arrogant ex-villains. "Cyclops. Clinging to his left leg while Emma is on his right leg, while firing his optic blast into space smacking the watcher's bald head... or is that just my fantasy?
Actually, maybe it's just me, but I sorta wished Nightcrawler and Rogue would get together(I think they're not blood related)
Neither. What is true love anyway? No thing as true love, just more love for one, more than another. In most realities all three characters usually tend to be quite stubborn and headstrong, in most realities we have seen Rogue started off as a villain and turned to being a hero. At least in a lot. Specifically 616. Magneto and Gambit both have their own codes of honor and ethics that generally are hard to understand by many of their peers. They can be perceived as hypocrites or untrustworthy etc, but depending on how you look at it, you can see quite a sensitive and humble side to either of them, despite their arrogance and bravado. Rogue can see it, and so when it comes to romantic connections, its natural to think she could be attracted to either. Wolverine as well.
Likewise, Rogue's much easier to read. Her sensitive and vulnerable side is easy to witness, but she is still stubborn and headstrong and she is young with a southern accent and feisty sassy personality and if she sees the best sides of Magneto, Gambit and any other, its easy to see how they could also end up infatuated with her. With Magneto initially back in Savage land, with their small fling, it was a different story. I mean, Magneto was more of realist than romantic then, but he is written a bit more mellow now, and Rogue is a whole lot more mentally confident and assured.
I don't think Rogue goes back and forth either, its natural for characters to realize and acknowledge their histories, but it doesn't necessarily mean anything more. Its appreciation of characterization, not so much a sign of a relationship in progress. Really writers from here should let Remy get back to his more fun independent ladies man on the outside, intensely disciplined and skilled honorable on the inside routine. Magneto has no time for serious relationships, and Rogue works a billion times better single and being awesome.
I agree with Backflip. At first I was kinda like "Huh?" but the audiacity of it is very appealing. It's become my new marvel OTP. lol
I think Rogue and Magnus would work well together, he'll "teach" her how to be in mature relationship and she'll definitely keep him in check (see legacy 239)
Ah cool, so it was around the time of AoA... I need to check up on that, seems interesting, but if it was only a brief fling, I don't think that Magneto can pose a real challenge to Gambit. I mean, not after all they've been through.
Plus Gambit/Rogue is just an awesome pairing.
I see all my X-Men pairings as follow:
Kitty/Colossus
Jean/Scott (we know it'll happen)
Gambit/Rogue
Moira/Banshee
Polaris/Havok
and I think I'm missing someone...

Wolverine/Melita Garner
I always have hope for the Gambit and Rogue romance, but Magneto has offered to help her get her powers under control. Strangely her powers aren't being shown as chaotic. Magneto has really been laying it thick on Rogue. Plus the secret admirer in the issue where Rogue borrowed the Cuckoos power. Who knows when that will come into play. I think they will play with the Magneto romance til Gambit gets his dark side under control. They could bring it all into a love triangle issue or square with the mystery guy.
Here is I think it should go.
Gambit - Rogue
Wolverine - Jean Gray
Cyclops - Emma Frost
Iceman - Magma or Firestar
Thor - Sif
Hercules - Amora
Spider - Man - Black Cat
Any Questions?
Personally I think Rogue and Gambit are made for each other. Yes she and Mags had a thing years ago when they were both in the savage land and she does seem to have an attraction to
him and years ago when a clone of Magneto, Joseph was loose in the world she was very attracted to him, But its Gambit that makes her heart beat fast. For recent evidence of that check
out X-Men Legacy 234 when Rogue temporally absorbed the telepathic powers of the Cuckoos and during a conversation with Gambit she telepathically broadcasts some pretty intense
feelings for Remy to everyone in the nearby vicinity.
I like the Rogneto relationship better, seems more realistic. The Gambit/Rogue has lost its touch. People do fall out of love if things change too much.
But I would like to see who the mysterious crusher is.
And no to Logan.
I much prefer her with Gambit. They have interesting dynamics, and an interesting history. Their relationship has had its ups and downs, and it's lately been stuck in mud, but overall I still do love them as a couple.
I cannot talk myself into liking or even into believing in Rogue/Magneto. I've tried, but I can't even stretch my willing suspense of disbelief enough to buy that these to characters have the hots for each other. I do like Magneto, and - despite my shameless adoration of Rogue/Gambit - I don't oppose to the idea of Rogue being with some other character than Gambit, but I can't help but hate Rogue/Magneto. It's forced, dull, and predictable, and it lacks any kind of spark, soul, or sizzle that would help me get invested in it. They're just a seriously mismatched couple in the most uninteresting of all ways. It's not even the age gap that bothers me, but the general lack of sense and substance.
I can imagine the young and naïve Rogue being attracted to sugar daddy Magneto during the Savage Land arc twenty years ago, him helping her with her Ms. Marvel problem and everything. I could easily see her being attracted to someone who represented power and control since she was lacking it at the time. If Rogue/Mags had really gone there back then, it would have been perfectly reasonable and believable. I can also buy Rogue/Magneto in the AoA universe, given the circumnstances. It just doesn't make any sense to me at this point of her character developement, especially since she still has her relationship with Gambit left unresolved. Seriously, I would rather see her with almost any other character than Magneto.
i think her true love is Logan there so much alike yet diferent at the same time there is a bond there between them in my opion they suit each other very well but thats just my take on it.
@LoganRogue24: I would like that but I can't help but see them as a distant brother/sister relationship

thought it would be funny to see how people reacted to this :)
Even though mags would make me think twice in this pic, I'm having to go with Gambit!! Im a 90s baby sue me..
They do need to resolve Rogue and Gambit one way or the other, it is getting old going on the way it has been, so either get them together for good (at least as long as 'for good' lasts in comics) or end it for good. I think they need a rest from the drama.
But whatever happens, no Rogue and Maggie please while I guess it worked sort of in AoA, in 616 it's just ugghh for me.
As for Rogue and Logan, unlikely to happen, but they have always had some chemistry going one and a close friendship ever since she risked her life for Mariko (and they went through the Genosha prison thing together) way back when. However whatever flirtatiousness banter does go on between them it's hard to know if that comes from Rogue and Logan or the Carol aspect that was in Rogue (who does seem to have been more then just friends with Logan back in the day).
I don't know, never really though about them beyond really close friends, but there was that kiss thing during the madness storyline so there is a precedent now I guess. It would certainly be something different from the usual triangles (Rogue/Gambit/Maggie or Scott/Jean/Logan) and I've always liked their banter and team-ups so it could be new and angst free fun. On the other hand it could ruin their easy friendship which would be bad.
Oh well, it's certain better then Rogue and Magento anyhow.
I wonder if Longshot is still with Dazzler (don't think so since she's back, but I lost track of those characters a while ago) she used to like him way back when, they could be interesting if he's free :)
I have a feeling that Rogue's love life is going to be even more complicated because

Lol if he doesn't get killed I'm fine with that relationship, their ages are closer together
