I am his father BTW (joking LOL, I don't know the man, I would probably be beat up if I said I did).

Why Does Everyone Hate Rob Liefield?

@JediXMan: Who is Rob Liefield and what did he write that was so terrible?
@xxxddd: He's a terrible artist and a b*tchy little baby when people don't think he's as awesome as he thinks he is.

Because he's an awful artist who nevertheless has made a career of being an awful artist.
Which admittedly, is kind of admirable.
But given it permeates an entire age of comics, it's far more annoying than anything else.
Plus, this:
That's the second worst piece of artwork I have ever seen.
I don't hate Rob. I love the guy. I just don't care for his art or his writing, and I enjoy poking fun at him sometimes, but I don't hate the man at all......
Because he's a hack artist with a sh!t attitude, not only towards comic fans, but to fellow creators.
I could care less about his art since it's never affected any book I've read but his attitude in general is horrible
First of all "everyone" doesn't hate Rob Liefeld. There are people who still buy his stuff. From what I see the majority of people who post on messageboards about how much they hate him are people who just jump on the bandwagon because he's an easy target. It's just fun for them to say the same things and make the same tired jokes. The sad part is many of the people putting him down used to be fans of his work or at least bought his books. Rob bashing is a bit out of style these days and Greg Land is the new guy to bash.

Title explains itself.

When all is said and done though I really like Liefeld. His art is generally outdated and lazy and his writing has been the death of many books, but I feel like he has done way more good than bad. He's also a complete badass which is also admirable.
Rob gets a lot of flack these days but back the 90s Rob was a big deal. Rob isn't a good artist but back in the day his art was seen as fresh, exciting and dynamic. Yes, his anatomy is bad but he made up for it by bringing a flashy style to his comicbook pages that made a lot of the other stuff by other artists look dull at the time... and fans ate it up. Unfortunately for Rob, other (better) artists started incorporating elements of that Rob/IMAGE style into their work and were able to do it better than Rob. Rob refused to or couldn't evolve or really improve his art enough to keep up and with the works of other artists who started doing the same type of art (but better) and made Rob's work look pale in comparison. So when the excitement/dynamics of Rob's comic pages wasn't as big a deal anymore fans the Subpar art skill/technique started to become more obvious and the bashing kicked into overdrive. After that happened anything Rob did or said was critized.
I'm pretty sure most people dislike him for the same reason that most people dislike most things, which is because most other people do.

That's a lovely generalization but everyone else in the thread has said it's because he's a terrible artist, so...
But there are plenty of terrible and even worse artists than Rob in comics that don't get the same kind of hate.

He's the most prominent bad artist. He's been all over the place so his bad art is really spread around.
Also his writing could use quite a bit of work.
Personally don't hate the guy, but I'm certainly not a fan.

Can you explain the Land hate to me, I don't get it. The art in Phoenix: Endsong was beautiful.

He traced porn for several of his images and tends to have issues with faces in general.

lmao... that explains a lot actually. The porn part anyways.
Because he sucks. Man... all these other posts have such great reasons, and I just put "because he sucks"...
There are different reasons people hate Greg Land. Some people don't like that traces/uses reference. Many people feel that an artist should draw totally from imagination and an artist is cheating and/or stealing or can't really draw if they use pictures to create or help create their art. But the truth is many other artists/illustrators do the same thing. Even other comicbook artists. The problem with Land is he seems to rely on it much much more than others and doesn't seem to alter it enough to make it less noticable and/or work well with the story he's telling. Character's expressions and poses usually seem a bit off. That's another thing people don't like. Another thing some people don't like is He doesn't seem to work harder keeping the characters from all looking alike and keeping characters looks consistant throughout the story. Some people are totally convinced he uses pics from porn as reference and they really don't like that.
I have to say however, that both Rob and Greg Land despite the fact that so many people are vocal about how much they don't like them both have a big fanbase that do like their stuff and can boost a book's sales. In many ways for the company putting out their books having sales power is more important than being a great artist because when all is said and done they're in the business of selling comics. There are plenty of good, solid artists out there that no one cares about and people don't follow their work. That type of artist isn't much of an asset to a company looking to move product.
Seriously, this type of hate is immature. His art and his writing may not be good....well that's it. See I can be honest without being a troll.

I'm not arguing he isn't. I'm just saying there are other terrible artists in the industry that don't get the hate Leifield does, and that's because hating him is a fad.
I despise him for his terrible art style that looks the same as it did when he helping create Wildstorm, usually artists improve or change their style over time but his has been SHIT since day 1. He talked bad about my beloved Gail Simone and other talented people and I've heard he's always been a jerk.
Those are my reasons, I feel that is a mature way of putting it.
I have no real opinion on Rob I know he can be difficult to deal with but so are a lot of comic creators that were big deals at one time or another. Things I have noticed is people that go on and on about how much they hate Liefield are the ones that bought all his stuff in the 90's because they were trendy and I think that is the answer his art was a big trend and like NU metal or Glam Rock and so many other trends once they fall in popularity many people act as if it was the worst thing in the world.
Besides the fact that:
1. His art is horrendous. It's the equivalent to staring at the sun. I get confused whenever I see his art,and I can't even comprehend many of the generic poses and expressions. The anatomy is worse. Most of the poses that he makes the characters do are just anatomically impossible and/or ridiculous and comical.
. And most of his (unoriginal) designs are just characters that barely wear anything other than pouches and have huge guns. The females barely wear anything.
It's just.....awful.
2. His writing is just as bad. It's just as generic and it's tired, lazy writing. Most times it's just out-of-character writing and dialogue that seems unfitting. It's more unfitting than reading a Wolverine or Batman comic with Nicki Minaj music playing.
3. His personality and attitude is just......
And then he wants to claim superiority over other people (whether other writers and artists),or he's just the type of person to tell people who don't tell his work to f*ck off. And then some people swear to god that he is a freaking saint.
The only good thing he has done is Deadpool and others. Other than that.....
EVERYTHING IS AWFUL
Because he forced people to draw like him, and those who didn't couldn't get a job for much of the 90s.
