Edward Nigma is a villain obsessed with riddles, puzzles, and brain teasers, who took the alias of the Riddler to commit crimes. Riddler frequently tries to outsmart Gotham's hero Batman, but is always defeated by the Dark Knight.
I would have to say I would want David Tennant as the Riddler more than Johnny Depp, I don't think that Johnny Depp would be able to play this character as well as the David Tennant.
As we mentioned earlier this month, reports state that the next Batman movie will feature the Riddler as the main villain.
Jim Carrey did a good job playing the last Riddler in 1995. So, who would likely take his place?
Well, some reports claim that Johnny Depp is being offered the role.
And with the success The Dark Knight has has had at the box office, making over $440 million worldwide, the producers don't think they'll have a problem convincing Depp to take the role.
A source says the producers "are convinced that the role of the Riddler is perfect for Depp. Johnny's a pro. He'll be able to take direction from director Chris Nolan and still make the character his own."
They also plan on revisiting another one of Batman's enemies, the Penguin. And according to insiders, they are hoping the role goes to Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman.
I believe both Johnny Depp and David Tennat would do outstanding jobs as the Riddler. They both are fantastic actors, and i could see both as the Riddler on the big screen. It up to Noland now to choose who plays the riddler. Im hoping for Depp, but i won't be disappointed if Tennat gets the role.
love the riddler, like this guy for the riddler. but....i don't think it'll work because bruce wayne is an idiot in the nolan films. morgan freeman does all the thinking and this is one of my biggest problems with these movies: where's the genius bruce wayne? none of the batman movies EVER gave enough credit to the smartness of their main character. it's almost as unforgiveable as how non-witty and non-funny tobey mcquire was as spider-man. no, the riddler can't exist in these films because the great thing about him as a character is that he matches bruce pound for pound in brains. take that away (like they have) and you've got nothing.
