As it explodes Dr. Bruce Banner pushes Rick into a protective trench, saving his life but absorbing the gamma rays that first transforms him into the Hulk. He felt guilty for what had happened and decided to stay with Dr. Banner and the HULK. He even for some time gained mental control over the HULK.
The Human Torch kind of shows off when he first meets Rick Jones. Rick responds to Johnny Storm's antics with a very funny line. "You're just a barrel of laughs, ain't ya?"
Immortus first fought against but then later aided a past incarnation of Rick Jones during The Destiny War.
