    Donald E. Westlake, or for fans of the "Parker" crime novels, Richard Stark was a great crime writer and one of the most celebrated at that.  Parker is one of the most iconic fictional criminals and in both The movie Payback (1999) and Point Blank (1967) the main character was never allowed to use the name "Parker".  The stories were based on them, but not truly Parker stories.  Darwyn Cooke did what no one else could do and no one else will do.  With the passing of Donald E.
