There are some bad things happening here. By that I mean Power Girl is a little ticked off. It's an interesting situation to see what happens when a super-powered individual gets the idea of trying to get revenge. Power Girl is upset over having her property is stolen. It's clearly an abuse of her power. Seeing repercussions and the fact that she may not have planned out her actions carefully is a nice twist.
Huntress is the rational one, going about getting answers with a more stealthy approach. What she discovers isn't earth-shattering but is interesting. Her investigation is cut short when she receives a certain piece of news.
Even though a huge deal hasn't been made over it, there is some fallout from BATMAN INCORPORATED #8. It is something that boosts up the issue a little but not enough time is spent dealing with it. This is definitely a direction that fully needs to be addressed, given who she was on Earth 2. There may be other stories planned to take place before but it's surprising we haven't seen more on this yet. I do want to see more of this angle.
Kevin Maguire adds a great vibe to the series. It gives the issue a more laid back and fun feeling which is what I would want in a team up with this version of Power Girl and Huntress. The expressions he draws is always great to see.
While interesting to see Power Girl use her powers for her own means (revenge), it feels like the story doesn't really go anywhere. The action suddenly shifts from a debacle to her lounging around on her island. Huntress' "mission" is also cut short in order to accommodate the fallout portion. We get about five pages but it would have been nice to see it played out some more. I mentioned this does add a nice new element but it feels like it was just thrown in for the sake of having a connection to BATMAN INCORPORATED. At least, in the book's defense, it wasn't labeled with a Requiem logo like the other Bat-titles.
WORLDS' FINEST is a book I keep rooting for. There are some good elements in this issue but the series continues to feel like it's not really going anywhere. Power Girl abusing her powers is interesting and hopefully there will be some more repercussions over what she did. You have to wonder what Superman would think if he knew what she was doing. Huntress displays her own prowess but that is cut short as we see some fallout from BATMAN INCORPORATED. It raises some interesting questions but the way it's presented almost gives a forced feeling in the middle of this comic. We definitely need to see more between Huntress and Batman. It may not be essential reading but hopefully will set the stage for future stories. The 'shock' at the end just might make you scratch you head as well.
