Rebel Ralston

Origin

Robert Ralston was boy whom was raised in Kentucky by wealthy parents on a huge estate. When he grew older, the took on the nickname of "Reb" (or Rebel). It was during this time that Reb was drafted into the U.S. Army because of World War Two. He eventually became a part of the famous Howling Commandos.

Creation

Robert "Rebel" Ralston was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in Sgt. Fury (and his Howling Commandos) issue 1 (1963).

Major Story Arcs

Howling Commandos

Reb had joined with a special team of commandos named the "Howling Commandos", under the leadership of sergeant Fury. Robert started calling himself "Reb" for a nickname, which most of his teammates stated calling him full-time. Reb and his other teammates fought alongside one another during most of the war, forming a bond that could never be broken. After the war, Reb became interested in politics, but also became part of the formation that became known as the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D. There Reb and the other former Howlers became a vital part of the organization, although Reb's interest in politics took him away from the battlefront more often.

Robert later appeared as an agent of A.R.M.O.R., a special division of S.H.I.E.L.D. which tried to contain zombie-related threads.

Secret War and Secret Invasion

When S.H.I.E.L.D was decommissioned and restructured into H.A.M.M.E.R, Reb left along with many of his old Howler teammates, such as his friend Dum Dum Dugan, and gathered them once more to form their own private mercenary operations in memory of the Howling Commandos. The team assisted Nick Fury on a few of his operations with his Secret Warriors team. Eventually, a mission let the team of old Howler's in a fight against Hydra, which caused Reb's old friends to die. Reb however survives the battle. Following this destructing blow, Reb went into politics full-time as a senator. Reb is part of a yearly reunion of the living remaining members of the Howling Commandos.

Death

Senator Robert Ralston attended a weapons expo where he met with Maria Hill and Nick Fury Junior, as they noticed the Iron Patriot armor on display as one of the items at the convention. A fight broke out against A.I.M. where Ralston was apparently killed during the fight.

In the Ultimate Universe Robert Ralston is known as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent number 11.
