@aberdeen: Yeah but tbh I didn't care for either guy, until that press conference where DDP hit him with that savage trash talk about getting his ass beat and everyone started crying about how he took it too far. Against anybody but Strickland, I could agree. But with a guy who's made his whole career off of saying things like "if my son turns out gay, I've failed as a man" and "nobody wants to see women fight," or any other incendiary thing he can think of, and being unapologetic about it, you don't get to take the moral high ground no matter what the other guy says to you. It's all fair. And it was so effortless and charming the way he delivered it.
Also, on principle, I hate how Strickland always talks like he's such a savage in the octagon, but he's one of the most static and boring decision machines ever, who waits until there's like 10 seconds left in the last round and then he acts like he was coming for the other guy's head the whole time.
But I was almost certain Strickland would walk-pressure him into exhaustion and just jab-cross his way to a decision like he does with almost everybody else. His low-energy style seemed like it would be a good counter to DDP, who bounces around in and out of range a lot, expending a lot of energy for often very little or no payoff and getting tired as early as round 1 at times and who'd never gone 5 rounds before.
