Darth Vader Respect Thread (Part 2)

This is the continuation of the previous respect thread. You can find the first and the third part of the thread here and here. I also made a respect thread for Canon Vader that can be found at this link.

Tutaminis/Force Deflection

Tutaminis allows a Force user to absorb various types of energy (from blaster bolts, Lightning, lightsaber, etc.). Force Deflection is the ability to deflect incoming attacks.

Vader casually redirects a blaster bolt with such precision that it beheads a stormtrooper:

Other instances of Vader absorbing/redirecting blaster bolts, at one point without even directly touching them:

Casually deflecting a volley of blaster bolts:

Vader leapt again, this time to the bridge, and to within only a few meters of Shryne, who spun about, dropping to one knee and firing repeatedly. This time Vader decided to show Shryne whom he was dealing with. Holding his lightsaber to one side, he raised his right hand to turn the blaster bolts. Clearly astonished, Shryne remained on one knee, but only briefly. In an instant he had passed through the gate and was shouldering his way through the crowd outside the wall.

-- Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader

He seems to absorb laser beams, though this could be a result of Vader summoning a Force Barrier to repel the attack:

"Tell the droid to give me the bota, Pavan."

"The droid doesn't have it," said I-Five suddenly. Both hands came up in a lethal gesture, lasers firing. The beams sliced toward Vader . . . and stopped mere centimeters from his outstretched hand.

He shields himself from Starkiller's telekinesis, which the latter failed to do, while simultaneously using his lightsaber to block his former apprentice's lightning. The contest ends with an explosion of Force energy that blows Starkiller away, whereas Vader was seemingly unaffected by it: (credit to Azronger):

Force Barrier

Force Barrier is a power that allows a Force user to repel enemy attacks by summoning a protective barrier.

Vader practiced in Force Barrier, presumably improving his skill with the technique:

He practiced in levitation and Force shielding, allowing him to move objects or deflect laser fire with simple gestures.

Combustion

Combustion, also known as Flamusfracta, is a power that enables a Force user to make objects explode.

Vader overloads a lightsaber's energy crystal, possibly via Combustion:

The crimson spire of destructive energy pointed straight up form his gloved fist. At first, nothing seemed to be happening. The Sing realized that the shaft was getting brighter. It's brilliance intensified until she had to raise a hand to shield her eyes from the all-but-blinding scarlet radiance. The refulgence dazzled her eyes, overwhelming everything else;the street, the building, the wrecked land speeder. Only Vader remained somehow visible; standing there, holding the weapon easily, seemingly unaffected by the blade's terrible radiance. The familiar deep hum that was the weapon's identifying sound rose in pitch, higher and higher, until it tore at her hearing. And then, in a final burst of screaming incandescence, the lightsabers shaft vanished.

Sing staredmin complete disbelief. Her eyes were capable of adapting much more rapidly to changes in ambient light than were a human's. A couple of blinks and the afterimages cleared, normal vision returning almost immediately. Vader stood motionless, the weapon's hilt still grasped in his outstretched fist. She could see a time wisp of smoke curling from the emitter.

He had overloaded the lightsaber's energy crystal with the Force. Sing prided herself on her knowledge of weaponry and their individual strengths and weaknesses. It was her profession after all. But she had never seen or heard of such a thing before

The Dark Lord opened his hand. Reduced to a cylinder of useless metal, composites, and components, the now harmless weapon clattered onto the pavement.

Force Scream

Force Scream is an involuntary emantion of power that allows a Force user to cause destruction around him.

Vader's Force Scream melts durasteel, destroys med droids, causes a man to permanently go deaf, echoes throughout a building, and disrupts the aforementioned structure's sensors. Noting that this happened shortly after Vader got his suit:

https://youtu.be/c6bEs3dxjPg

(3:20 onward)

And you rage and scream and reach through the Force to crush the shadow who has destroyed you, but you are so far less now than what you were, you are more than half machine, you are like a painter gone blind, a composer gone deaf, you can remember where the power was but the power you can touch is only a memory, and so with all your world-destroying fury it is only droids around you that implode, and equipment, and the table on which you were strapped shatters, and in the end, you cannot touch the shadow.

-- Revenge Of The Sith

"It happened about a year ago," he said, lowering his voice to a ragged whisper. "Near the very end of the Clone Wars. A scream was heard. A scream so terrible and so loud that it echoed throughout the building and made the sensors go crazy. It was said that one med worker lost his hearing. Permanently. The med workers searched and searched for the source of the sound, but there was... nothing. There was only a handful of patients at that time. It had seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere, but no patient had done it." Jako's voice had lowered to a whisper. "It was as though all the dead of the Clone Wars had screamed their death cries at the same time, then gone back to being dead."

Ferus knew that in his slightly incoherent way Jako was trying to spook him, and it had worked. Just not in the way he'd thought. Jako winked. "Enjoy the night shift." He closed his eyes again, and, smiling, was asleep in seconds. Ferus thought once more about Vader's prosthetics. They were extensive, from a breath-mask to vision enhancement to possible artificial limbs. He was fairly certain that Vader had at least one artificial hand. And he was regulated by what seemed to be a complex bio-system within that suit.

For the first time, Ferus wondered what awful injuries he must have sustained. What had happened to the guy? He had been chasing the wrong idea. Vader, whoever he was, must have been in terrible pain.

-- Last Of The Jedi: Against The Empire

DARTH SIDIOUS: I'm afraid she died. ... it seems in your anger, you killed her.

A LOW GROAN emanates from Vader's mask. Suddenly everything in the room begins to implode, including some of the DROIDS.

DARTH VADER: I couldn't have! She was alive! I felt her! She was alive! It's impossible! No!!!

VADER SCREAMS, breaks his bonds to the table, and steps forward, waving his hands, causing objects to fly around the room. SIDIOUS deflects the objects, but some of the DROIDS aren't so lucky. VADER'S PAINFUL SCREAMS echo throughout the Center.

-- Revenge Of The Sith Script

For the record, this is the building where Vader unleashed this Force Scream. As can be seen from the picture, it dwarfs many surrounding buildings in size, and it was stated as one of Coruscant's tallest structures:

No Caption Provided

Most Galactic citizens know it as Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Center (EmPal SuRecon in shorthand city-speak). To them, it is the crown of one of Coruscant's tallest buildings, containing an elite medical facility specializing in advanced medical treatment for extremely difficult cases from around the galaxy.

-- Star Wars Databank

He unleashes a Force Scream that cracks walls:

Olin was behind this. His last chance for peace was gone. Padme would be with him always. The memory of her softness, her smiles, her horror as he held her with his mind, choking the air from her, wanting her limp, wanting to show her, wanting to make her pay for her disloyalty . . .

Around him, the walls began to crack.

-- Last Of The Jedi: Reckoning

He damages various parts of a room, seemingly with his rage alone:

Malorum's voice was hoarse, as though he was gasping for breath. Still, Ferus could hear the fear in it.

"I... beg... you - "

A strange thing was happening. The grating in front of Ferus was vibrating.

Then the actual wall was vibrating. He heard a cracking sound. Vader was allowing his rage to build.

"Do not ever mention that place again."

"Of course, Lord Vader."

Across the hallway, Ferus could see that the windows of Yoda's quarters were vibrating. Suddenly the door blew in. He saw a chair sail across the room and heard it slam against a wall. Part of the ceiling cracked and cables crashed down.

Ferus signaled to Trever and began to crawl backward.

The windows shattered. The grate blew out, along with a large chunk of the wall.

-- Last Of The Jedi: Underworld

He melts durasteel and collapses part of a ceiling:

Another roar from Vader. Part of the ceiling gave way. Durasteel melted, smoke rose from the debris. Ferus leaped over a gaping hole in the floor and attacked Vader again, but his lightsaber cut through empty air.

-- Last Of The Jedi: Reckoning

Vader unleashes a Force Scream that shakes the foundations of a building:

Vader’s reaction was not what he’d expected. After a frozen instant, ignoring the bloody spittle running down one plasteel cheek, he knelt and grabbed Typho by the hair, lifting the latter’s head and eliciting a cry of renewed pain from him.

“What?” The flare in the Force that raced through the hangar was enough to shake the foundations of the building. The Dark Lord actually seemed to grow, to expand and become more terrible in his rage than Typho would have believed possible.

Force Heal

Force Heal is a power used to heal wounds and dull pain.

By focusing on his anger, Vader can use the Force to heal his damaged lungs and breathe normally for up to 2 minutes:

The energies of the dark side filled him, and he could once again breathe as a normal man did. He focused his anger. It was not right that he be crippled, that he couldn't do this all the time. It was... not... right! The healing energies held. As long as he could maintain his indignation, his lungs and breathing passages stayed open and clear. He fed the fires of his rage with the unfairness of a galaxy that would not let him be whole. Still the healing energies held. He fought the sense of relief he felt. Fought it and kept his anger pure. And still they held. Almost two minutes now. A new record.

-- Shadows Of The Empire

Vader used the dark side to sustain himself for several days in spite of him being severely injured and having his suit badly damaged, possibly by healing himself to accomplish this feat:

Force Rage

Force Rage, also known as Dark Rage, is a power that enables a Force sensitive to increase his or her power and physical abilities by channeling his or her rage.

After weeks of training, Vader's ability to summon and use his rage increased significantly. Noting that Rage was stated as one of the most powerful and demanding dark side abilities:

At Sidious's insistence, he had spent the recent weeks sharpening his ability to summon and make use of his rage, and felt poised at the edge of a significant increase in his abilities.

-- Dark Lord: The Rise Of Darth Vader

Force Rage: One of the most powerful techniques taught to the Dark Jedi and Sith, it was similar to a Wookie battle cry in that it allowed an individual to unleash primal energies. When coupled with a link to the dark side of the Force, however, these energies manifested themselves as Force Rage, giving the Dark Jedi or Sith increased power for a short period of time. This alter skill was also one of the most demanding of the dark arts, as it drained huge amounts of energy from the individual using it.

-- The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia

He studied the journal of Darth Malgus:

The excerpts from the journal of Darth Malgus kept during the Great Galactic War some thirty-six centuries ago are a prime example of how a wounded warrior can be sustained by rage. The war was an unbounded success for the era's Sith Emperor, and Malgus was one of his best soldiers. I obtained this text many decades ago from a dealer in antiquities, and have recently passed it to Darth Vader so he might gain inspiration.

Drain Resistance

Drain Resistance enables its user to resist the effect of life or Force draining techniques

Darth Vader can resist Force Drain, having learned this technique as Anakin from Ulic Qel-Droma in order to destroy the Dark Reaper:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYEc8C_1gTc

(2:00 onward)

Anakin made an emergency trip to Ulic Qel-Droma's tomb on Rhen Var. There, the ancient Jedi gave the Padawan the knowledge he needed to resist the effects of the Force Harvester and to destroy the Dark Reaper.

Ulic Qel-Droma's lessons had been learned well, and Anakin had the power to resist the Harvester.

-- The Official Star Wars Fact File #107

The Dark Reaper is a superweapon powerful enough to drain both the life energies and the Force from entire armies, as well as instantly kill anyone who approaches it:

The heart of the Dark Reaper was the Force Harvester, a large mechanical sphere that stripped the Force from all living things and stored their life energies until needed by the Dark Reaper.

The harvester was designed to drain the energy of the Force from any living beings, regardless of wether they were Force-sensitive or not.

-- The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia

During the last Great Sith War, the Dark Lord Exar Kun built a weapon of such power it could rip the life essence from an entire army. It was known as the Dark Reaper.

Sith Sorcery

Sith Sorcery or Sith Magic is a Force-oriented practice that involves a wide spectrum of arcane and esoteric powers.

Vader most likely knows the Dwomutsiqsa Sith ritual, having given a portion of his knowledge and powers to Kharys:

Much later, one of the pupils returned. He told us that Obi-Wan and the Jedi were destroyed—by his hand—then, he invoked our oath and made Skye an Imperial satrapy, to be ruled in his name by Kharys, to whom he gave a portion of his knowledge and powers. That man was Darth Vader.

Force Corruption

Force Corruption is the ability to corrupt other people's minds and will, often tainting them with the dark side. It also allows to create dark side nexuses by corrupting the environment.

Vader seemingly turned his castle on Vjun into a dark side nexus so powerful that Luke sensed the dark power of the fortress from orbit:

There it is, X2... Bast Castle! It resonates with the power of the Dark Side. Even here, I can still sense my father's anger and regret…

Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron

https://youtu.be/ICJCDBmyRtk

(5:41-5:53)

Bast Castle was stated as "a stronghold of dark power".

Anakin and his friends just heard an incredible secret! Darth Vader may have retrieved Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber from the original Death Star. The lost weapon may be hidden in Vader's abandoned fortress on the planet Vjun, and Luke Skywalker agrees that it must be recovered.

Now Anakin and his friends—along with Tionne and the Jedi Master Ikrit—are heading off to Vjun to find the legendary fortress. Untold dangers await them, for no one knows what secrets still lie within those ancient walls. Even abandoned, it is a stronghold of dark power.

-- Junior Jedi Knights: Vader's Fortress

The presence of the dark side in the castle was also strong enough for the Disciples of Ragnos to attempt to drain its Force energy to resurrect Marka Ragnos:

https://youtu.be/9QhJUMcB4iM

From 21;30 to 21:36, you can clearly see Rosh Penin pointing the scepter of Ragnos towards Vader's meditation chamber before Jaden Korr arrived, suggesting that it was a focal point of dark side energy as well.

Enter Vader's castle and stop the cult from draining its Force energy.

-- Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Note: there is no conclusive proof that Vader was directly responsible for corrupting Bast castle, but given that it was his private fortress, it is very likely that he did, since he would have been the one to spend more time there than anyone else. And considering that Luke could feel Vader's anger and regret inside the castle, I find this the most logical conclusion to make.

The remains of Vader's armor in his funeral site on Endor created a nexus potent enough to prevent plants from growing there, as well as to cast waves of darkness that caused the creatures on the moon to avoid the place:

As he flew onward, Kyp's mind ranged far and wide across the Endor wilderness. Then he felt a ripple, an echo of something that definitely did not... belong.

Everything else seemed to have its place, but this did not conform. A stain that seemed to absorb all other senses, casting waves of leftover darkness that caused the creatures on Endor to avoid the place instinctively.

Kyp changed course and arrowed to the coordinates, circling once until he found an appropriate clearing. The repulsorlifts whined, and his landing jets kicked up fallen forest debris as he landed the Headhunter in the underbrush.

Afraid and yet eager, Kyp swung out of the cockpit and hopped down, landing with a crunch in the twigs and dead leaves. The breeze died, as if the evening forest were holding its breath around him. Silvery planetshine trickled through the dense leaves, lighting the clearing with a wan, milky glow.

Kyp took four steps and stopped before the scorched site of Vader's funeral pyre.

The ground surrounding the old burned area remained dead and brown. Though the thick forests of Endor were tenacious and fast-growing, no plants dared approach the scar, even after seven years.

The bonfire had been large and hot, incinerating Vader's uniform. Only a few heat-warped bits of body armor had survived, along with tatters of a black cape tangled in broken rocks and time-packed ashes. A twisted lacing of steel reinforcement lay like a torn spiderweb covered.

Kyp swallowed and knelt in the dirt. He reached out tentatively, afraid, until he let his fingertips brush the age-crumbled ashes.

He jerked his hand away, then brought it back. The spot was cold, but the coldness seemed to go away as his hands grew numb.

Kyp used the Force to scatter bits of ash, blowing clear the tiny, buckled residue that had survived the fire, an unrecognizable lump of black plasteel that might have been Vader's helmet. Growing more desperate, Kyp increased his power, scouring away debris and leaving only a sad jumble of wires, melted plasteel, and shreds of tough cloth.

Darth Vader, former Dark Lord of the Sith, had been reduced to only pathetic scraps and nightmarish memories.

Kyp reached out to stroke the remnants. Electric tingles went through his hands. He knew he shouldn't be touching these relics, yet he could not turn away now. Kyp had to find answers to his questions, even if he had to answer them himself.

Alter Environment

Alter Environment is a power that enables its user to manipulate nature and the environment around him or her.

Some examples of Vader using AE to control winds:

Vader uses AE to control winds against Luke on Bespin:

Another large piece of machinery glanced off Luke’s body and crashed out the large window, letting in the screaming wind. Suddenly everything in the room was blown about, and the fierce wind lashed Luke’s body and filled the room with a bansheelike howl. And in the very center of the room, standing still and triumphant, was Darth Vader.

“You are beaten,” the Dark Lord of the Sith gloated. “It is useless to resist. You will join me or you will join Obi-Wan in death!”

As Vader spoke these words, a final piece of heavy machinery soared through the air, striking the young Jedi and knocking him through the broken window. Everything became a great blur as the wind carried him, tossing and rolling, until he managed to grab hold of a beam with one hand. With the wind subsided a bit and his vision cleared, Luke realized that he was hanging from the gantry of the reactor shaft outside the control room.

He didn’t want to believe Vader, tried convincing himself that it was Vader who lied to him—but somehow he could

feel the truth in the Dark Lord’s words. But, if Darth Vader did speak the truth, why, he wondered, had Ben Kenobi lied to him?

Why?

His mind screamed louder than any wind the Dark Lord could ever summon against him.

The answers no longer seemed to matter.

His father.

With the calmness that Ben himself and Yoda, the Jedi Master, had taught him, Luke Skywalker made, perhaps, what might be his final decision of all. “Never,” Luke shouted as he stepped out into the empty abyss beneath him. For all its unperceived depth, Luke might have been falling to another galaxy.

Darth Vader moved to the end of the gantry to watch as Luke tumbled away. A strong wind began to blow, billowing Vader’s black cloak out behind him as he stood looking over the edge.

Force Ghost

Force Ghost is a technique that enables Force users to retain their consciousness after death by becoming spirits.

Vader learned how to become a Force Ghost under Palpatine's tutelage, though his training in the technique was later completed by the spirits of Yoda and Obi-Wan:

Force spirit: A disembodied manifestation of a once living, Force-sensitive individual. Rather than simply becoming part of the Force, they denied the will of the Force to retain their individuality, at least for a limited time. Gui-Gon learned the technique from studying the Whills, and was able to teach Yoda and Obi-Wan the skill. Anakin Skywalker learned it through his teachings with Palpatine and through the knowledge passed on by the spirits of Obi-Wan and Yoda.

Telepathy

Telepathy is the ability to communicate with other beings and manipulate their minds.

Vader is proficient in Force Fear:

But the Force, of course, was quite real—and the black tentacles of its dark side had hardened Palpatine and his new pupil, Darth Vader, into evil incarnate. They shared its horrible energies, and used them to fill the minds of their subservient military minions with fear.

-- Technical Journal Of The Imperial Forces

He probes admiral Motti's mind:

Without a word, Vader swept past the admiral and headed for the privacy of his quarters. Motti's mind was not weak, but the emotions roiling beneath the calm exterior made his thoughts easy enough to sense: could he have struck Vader dead in that moment, he would have. The man's mind was a cauldron of seething anger, of hatred and envy, most of which was directed toward Vader. A pity Motti had no connection to the Force, the Dark Lord mused. He could have proved most useful.

-- Death Star

He drains knowledge from Luke Skywalker's mind:

“Give yourself to the dark side, Luke,” he entreated. “It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes, your thoughts betray you, son. Your feelings for them are strong, especially for—“ Vader stopped. He sensed something.

Luke withdrew further into shadow. He tried to hide, but there was no way to hide what was in his mind—Leia was in pain. Her agony cried to him now, and his spirit cried with her. He tried to shut it out, to shut it up, but the cry was loud, and he couldn't stifle it, couldn't leave it alone, had to cradle it openly, to give it solace. Vader's consciousness invaded that private place. “No!” screamed Luke.

Vader was incredulous. “Sister? Sister!” he bellowed. “Your feelings have now betrayed her, too... Twins!” he roared triumphantly. “Obi-Wan was wise to hide her, but now his failure is complete.”

-- Return Of The Jedi

Then, Vader and Palpatine both gained access to Luke's innermost thoughts, those that protected his sister, Princess Leia Organa.

-- The Essential Guide To Characters

Vader telepathically instills fear in the minds of two Force-sensitives:

Vader’s mere presence was enough to weaken even the bravest heart. “You want me to find Jax Pavan for you,” Nick said. “I won’t do it.” His voice shook a little, but he got the words out.

Vader stepped closer to him. "I think you will. In fact, I know you will. You are brave; your record makes that clear. You do not fear death." He raised his left hand, index finger slightly extended, as if making a point. "But there are far worse things than mere death ...".

And before Nick realized what was going on, the Dark Lord was somehow inside his head, a dark shadow interrupting the flow of his thoughts. The shadow seemed to expand...Nick screamed, and fell into a blackness even more perfect than the eyes of Darth Vader.

--

Rhinann took Nick Rostu down to the hangar bay. Rostu was conscious, but silent, staring into the distance. Rhinann had become somewhat familiar with human facial expressions and body language, and he could tell that Rostu had seen or heard something that had nearly stunned him into a vegetative state. Rhinann shuddered, trying not to think about what horrors Vader had imparted to the human. Whatever they had been, they had left him in such shock that the forcecuffs he was wearing seemed almost superfluous.

--

His mind felt like it had been punched full of holes—holes that let conscious thoughts drain from it as fast as they popped into existence. Or maybe it was just that the thoughts were too horrible to hold on to for any length of time.

--

It was the human, Rostu, who had been the stick that broke the bantha’s back. After Rhinann had sent him on his way in the freighter, the Elomin had had time to speculate on whatever Vader had done to him to cause such a state of fear and despair in a hardened guerrilla warrior.

-- Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight

While on Coruscant, Vader muses that he could reach out to Roan Shryne through the Force, in spite of the latter being in the Outer Rim:

The moon was arid Jaguada’s sole companion in a desolate system slaved to a dying star, far from major hyperlanes. The fact that remote Jaguada should host a garrison of clone troopers in the desert planet’s modest population center struck Shryne as something of a mystery. But the troopers’ presence could owe to plans to salvage the Separatist war machines that had been left abandoned on the moon, as troopers were known to be doing in numerous Outer Rim systems.

--

Behind Armand Isard and the two Internal Security Bureau technicians seated at the Temple beacon control console, Vader stood with his arms folded across his chest, Commander Appo at his right hand.

“I want to know how the beacon was accessed,” Vader said.

“By means of a Jedi transceiver, Lord Vader,” the tech closest to Armand said.

“Cross-check the transceiver code with the identity database,” the ISB chief said, anticipating Vader.

“The name should be coming up in a moment,” the other tech said, eyes glued to rapidly scrolling text on one of the display screens. “Chatak,” he added a moment later. “Bol Chatak.”

The sound of Vader’s breathing filled the ensuing silence.

Shryne and Starstone, he thought. Obviously they had been in possession of Chatak’s beacon transceiver when they had evaded him at Murkhana. Now they were attempting to determine the location of other Jedi when Order Sixty-Six had been issued. Certainly they were hoping to establish contact with survivors, hoping to pick up the pieces of their shattered order.

And… what?

Devise their revenge? Unlikely, since that would entail calling on the dark side. Formulate a plan to kill the Emperor? Perhaps. Although, ignorant of the fact that Palpatine was a Sith, they would not plot an assassination. So perhaps they were contemplating an attack on the Emperor’s enforcer?

Vader considered reaching out to Shryne through the Force, but rejected the idea.

“What is the source of the transmission?” he asked finally.

“The Jaguada system, Lord Vader,” the first technician said. “More precisely, the moon of the system’s only inhabited world.”

A large holomap of the galaxy emerged from the console’s holoprojector. Linked to myriad databases throughout the Temple, the map made use of a palette of colors to indicate trouble spots. Just now, in preservation of the moment Order Sixty-Six had been executed, more than two hundred worlds glowed blood red.

Perhaps this explained why Sidious hadn’t had the Temple dismantled, Vader thought. So he could regard it from his lofty new throne room and gloat.

Vader appears to have telepathically influenced a Toydarian, a species that is highly resistant to mind tricks, though he could have used other Force techniques to aid his effort:

"These creatures have become such an irritation that every time I see one I want to strike it down with my lightsaber. Be that as it may, I interviewed a Toydarian subject who showed a great amount of resistance to Force suggestion, up to the point that I created physical discomfort. They can be easily intimidated by a demonstration of strenght. And it proved relatively simple to cause it to expire, merely by making its existence extremely painful. Ultimately, though it showed a great degree of willpower, it was no match for the power of the Force."

He invades Stauz's mind, possibly forcing him to relive his worst memories via Memory Walk:

He easily shrugs off a mental attack from Clat the Shamer, who could induce people to commit suicide by showing them their sins and inner fears (credit to WollfMyth209):

He telepathically communicates with Birra Seah from across the Executor (credit to WollfMyth209):

Vader tempts Luke to turn to the darkside:

"Luke—you can destroy the Emperor. He has foreseen this. It is your destiny." He opened his left hand end held it out to Luke. "Join me, and together we can rule the galaxy as father and son."

His voice is so hypnotic, Luke thought, and he felt part of him falling under Vader's spell.
