i'm leaving this site for good

why?

because it's a cesspool of unbelievable crap. the site pretends itself to be a legitimate resource like a wikipedia for comic books but doesn't hold any standard to ensure that. i have nearly 1,000,000 wiki points, all from genuine contributions. i've written probably about 100 detailed bios of characters and have added well over 500 pages. so i'm not saying this from nowhere.

for most my time here i've been concentrating on keeping most of the marvel pages at their core presentable, something i took on entirely by myself because deep down, none of the mods really care and there are a majority of users who simply just ignore any of the guidelines and don't ever get called up on it. two of the things that i insisted on doing was making sure that marvel's big teams (avengers, x-men, etc.) member section was correct and that all the main pics were, above all else, relevant. these two things are abused to unbelievable levels, something i've brought to the mods attention more times than i can count, initially to disinterest to now being outright ignored. if you can go onto the x-men page now, there are at least 20 characters listed there under members who dont coutn at all (storm's alternate reality daughter, jubilee's adopted daughter, spyke from x-men evolution). likewise, the pictures but i'll get onto them later. there are plenty of other things wrong with the site, at it's core it's a really broken website, the spider-man page for example cannot be edited at all and hasn't been able to be edited since march 2013. things break, they don't get fixed. pages look like crap, they don't get fixed. you attempt to remedy either of them, you end up stepping on a mod's toes and they turn into petty policemen trying their hardest to get rid of you.

as i said, i've contributed to this site a lot. my rewards include constant threats from other users, more sexual harrassment than anyone deserves, a user starting a campaign to get me banned, among other things. (all of these problems have been brought to moderators and the response is "oh, we can't do anything"). i'm not deluded and asking to be loved and worshipped by anyone for writing some data about emma frost or whatever, but i receive absolutely no recognition whatsoever from the moderators, most of whom refuse to acknowledge problems with other users because they are intimidated by the fact i actually do something, two of whom have specifically pushed for me to be banned purely on the basis they don't like me, one moderator refusing to take action when another user openly called me a "nothing but a yeast-infected hooker" in a joint pm because he belived "it's probably true" and of course when i was banned for a pithy questioning the integrity of the ALMIGHTY staff which was removed 5 minutes later by a mod but was so bad it had me perma-banned until one of the few decent mods (who's not really with us) repealed it. people have shown me pictures of the gentalia unprovoked on here, i report this, they don't get told off. but you can be perma-banned for not bowing down to unadulated love of the "authority figures".

particularly in my last few days i made the decision contributing to this site is a waste of time, it's a site moderated by egotistical little boys with fantasies of authority but a fear of being questioned with a lot of prominent contributors who simply make the site how they want it to be and ignore the supposed "rules" or even common sense without reprieve. after a debate where i provided an OFFICIAL source straight from marvel's OFFICIAL resource about why something on the wiki should be done a certain way and the response from one mod was as much as "what i says goes" while another mod backed them up by saying they take their word over mine (keeping in mind, i as i said provided an OFFICIAL source). that combined with the state of the pages at the moment...

as i said earlier since i joined nearly two years ago about once every few months i point out something that is sorely needed: moderation on image defaults. you know, the main picture of wiki pages on the site? users like comicbookfan2, themightyherc, logan_x and jya666 upload whatever the hell they want (in the former three's case, insane amounts of poor quality duplicate images) and just immediately set whatever they've uploaded as the main. most the times the image is of poor quality or against the guidelines entirely and the only argument a lot of the time is "oh, but it's recent" (which if you actually read the rules there's a whole stipulation about QUALITY). but yes, i've been asking for this for an age, and despite it being a valid and necessary thing, nobody cares. why is it important? here's a quickly knocked together example, these are from just glancing over the x-men members section a few moments ago so you can see why it's needed

but yes. goodbye. i'm leaving this site. most the mods aren't interested in making the site good, they only care about keeping it the same. they'll play favorites with users and treat you like filth if you happen to get on their wrong side over nothing over a year ago. your contributions or the quality of them mean nothing to them. they're happy to let PowerHerc or Lokiofmidgaard point-spam every page as long as he doesn't disagree with one of them. For every moderator who is good, there's more bad ones and the good ones usually always end up leaving. Just like the users.

So now I join the likes of aztek_the_lost, xerox-kitty, thegoldenone, fadetoblackbolt, razzatazz, rogue_mar1e and some other good users who have all mostly left this site for various reasons, some similar some just coz it's a poor site.

what does it matter, this will probably be deleted immediately and anyone who sees it before that will just be all tl;dr.
