My All-Time Favorite Superheroes

Everyone has their favorites. These are mine. Just a side note: #1 and #2 I consider a tie. This list is still growing and changing, so don't be surprised if some heroes move up or down the ladder.

List items

  • Like many of us 90s kids, I grew up watching the Animated Series, a landmark in both animation and storytelling. To me, Batman has always been the greatest superhero in the sense of that he's powerless, yet has the skills and resources to beat all odds. The Nolan Trilogy is my favorite movie series as well, which defined the Batman mythos flawlessly. To that, I have to say that Batman is my all-time favorite superhero of all (at least from DC).

  • Along with BTAS, I got to know Spider-Man through his own animated series. But it wasn't until I watched the first Spider-Man movies and read the comics that I really became a die-hard fan. And like many Spider-Man fans, I can relate to Peter Parker because he's like you and me: a normal guy with spider-powers dealing with both superpowered and normal situations all at once. And of course, the lifelong lesson that with great power comes great responsibility is why Spider-Man is my favorite superhero from not just Marvel, but possibly my favorite superhero of all time.

  • I really didn't get into Green Lantern until I watched Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, but it wasn't until Green Lantern: Rebirth that Hal Jordan really caught my attention. And I'll be honest: I'm probably one of the few people out there that actually liked the movie. Ryan Reynolds, even though he wasn't my first choice, actually pulled off Hal Jordan pretty good in my opinion. Aside from that, I've always admired Hal Jordan and how he has overcome many obstacles to prove that beyond his mere normal self with arguably the most powerful weapon in existence, he is a true hero. Plus you have to admit: we'd all love to slip on a Power Ring, fly and create whatever we want.

  • The main reason Archery is among of my interests. Arrow is also one of the best shows out there right now!

  • I'm surprised that Superman isn't higher on this list. Nonetheless, I got to know Superman via all his animated appearances and the movies. I was also a big fan of Smallville. The only real Superman stories I've read though are the Earth One stories, but even those stayed true to the original mythos in a more modern way.

  • The original Boy Wonder. What can I say? Sure, he was a bit of an ass in the Schumacher films, but he was more awesome and more mature in the animated series and comic books. But what I really like is his personality: smart and serious, yet humorous and chatty at times.

  • The perfect blend of action and comedy. 'Nuff said.

  • My all time favorite Japanese superhero, more so than the Power Rangers and their original Japanese counterparts, Super Sentai.

  • One of my favorite superheroes is actually a whole team! LOL. These guys were my childhood! The Green Ranger is actually my favorite of all, but I chose the entire team because one Ranger doesn't define how awesome they are.

  • Like the Power Rangers, they're another whole team rather than one. I've seen all the shows and movies, and they just get better every time! Cowabunga!
