Super(pun intended) article. Can't wait for this. Screw the haters this is easily one of my favourite superman iterations on the market.

Haha once the haters read this volume they'll agree with you ;)

@punyparker: yes. He was actually the last writer to write Pre-New 52 Superman. He wrote the notorious Grounded story arc

He only wrote the first six or so issues.(The part which everyone liked) Then Chris Roberson took over from him.

This was SUCH A GOOD read. There was this one that almost made me cry, it had such a Death of Spider-Man feel to it..the art and the dialogue was so intense and passionate and so human. And what they did with Lex^2...WOW!!! Talk about a twist. Zod's story was really interesting too and it was a nice fresh take on the character too.

Just all around...amazing. I really hope we see a volume 4 in the future, perhaps after they do a Justice League: Earth-One. I'd hate for this to be the end of the series.

QFT!!

I really enjoyed this book, like really enjoyed it. I can't really explain this book other than fresh, it is the most fresh Superman story in a while. Just read through it and still processing, JMS ended the arc he started in volume 1 with a huge bang. Imo really well written and i liked the art as well, keeping in tone with the first two volumes and maybe it's just me but in some panels Ardian Syaf's pencills look like Jim Lee's which is never a bad thing.

A fresh Superman story which by my experience reading it, will definitely appeal to current generations.

There's one line, a question when he's talking to Lois towards the end where in an instant he becomes more contemporary and inspiring. In terms of all that's happening in the world today.

If anyone is reading this and you haven't picked up a superman comic before, try this. And don't worry about the number of the volume, as stated in the review, it is very accessible :)

(Such a natural progression in the Lex^2 story, Oh my God!! Will have to read this again before i go to bed)

P.S- 5/5 from me ;)

@cloudzackvincent: I think the short range was due to Ulysses absorbing most of it.

That's comforting, though it means Ulysses absorbed a $#!% ton of power.

its a bit confusing, as a solar flare releases energy equivalent to millions of 100 megaton hydrogen bombs exploding simultaneously according to NASA. However, this "Super" Flare managed to affect only a quarter mile radius.

Those are actual solar flares which are much bigger than even the earth, however it was still pissing off because Superman has stores of energy which enable his muscles to literally move planets and when fully discharged, it only affected a half mile radius whereas IMO it should've wiped out like half of north america.(For obvious reasons that didn't happen, could've in that barren 4th dimension though)

Didn't Supergirl originally have this power in the new 52? I don't know why this is such a big deal. Whoopty doo I guess male krptonians can do what was implied a female only ability. Well I guess if guys suddenly had periods it would be pretty big.

Ya, it was supposed to be a distinguishing power for female kryptonians and i even liked that about it(sad that Michael Green couldn't delve more into that aspect in his SG run), but now we can just treat it as girls maturing faster than boys.

I was glad Lana changed her mind. There were some plot-conviniences but I let them slide.

The only major gripe I have with this issue is Superman's completely pessimistic view and the "over-feeding" of Ultra-humanite. I think for a guy who should inspire hope and is an eternal optimist that way of thinking is completely out of character.

7/10

Basically my entire gripe with pak's Superman.

Looking forward to good fun though in the coming Bizzaro story.

Well there goes my bright idea and hopeful future pitch to have jimmy find out Clark's secret :(

Anyway, the super flare though great looking was incredibly underwhelming. From the preview I thought they were still in the fourth dimension on some dead world and superman goes on to destroy it on the next page. The explanation says he exerted all the energy in his cells and he only had a blast radius of a quarter mile?!! That's not even close to Hiroshima. Just think of it logically this guy has enough energy in his cells that enables him to push moons and planets around and when that's expelled it hardly causes a dent. The 24 hour thing is a lil irksome too.(Again, logically speaking it would take longer) Plus Supergirl had this power before him and that was meant as a distinguishing power for female kryptonians, chalk it up to girls maturing faster than boys.

I found this issue kind off underwhelming when it came to the new power part, however, I really liked how superman addressed the public and how that inspired jimmy to do an insanely selfless thing, which in turn got Clark to reveal his secret to him. Good stuff.

Seeing the new suit properly, i don't think they should've changed it :P
