Tomorrow...

Tomorrow my GA (graduate assistantship) starts. I'm a little worried because I feel like I've really become a slacker in the past few months (summer does that I guess). I suppose I will just have to try as hard as possible to get everything done and keep my head held high. Wish me luck.

Scott Pilgrim!!!

I'm going to see Scott Pilgrim tonight! FINALLY! I've been waiting all summer for this. I've read all 6 books and I really loved the series. Though, I will admit, I wasn't thrilled with book 6. I think that may have had something to do with not having read volume 5 since it came out, but I just felt like it wasn't the best way to end the series. I'm not saying it was, bad. I'd still give it a 4/5, but the rest of the series got a 5/5. ANYWAY, that was a bit of a tangent. I can't wait to see the flick and I love Edgar Wright movies, so I'll post my thoughts on the film after I see it.

Teen mom on MTV

My fiancee loves Teen Mom on MTV. Some of the stories are actually interesting and I think it's important for girls to see the impact that having a child can have on their lives. That having been said, there is one couple on here that is pretty screwed up. It seems like every episode of the show they fight with each other, the girl hits the guy, screams at him, then he leaves, she cries, and then he comes back. And the whole time their child is watching them scream and fight with each other. This makes me think that MTV should have the responsibility to encourage and, most importantly, pay for them to see counseling. I don't see how they can profit on something like a troubled teen relationship without having some sort of responsibility to the child's best interests. I understand that MTV probably doesn't have any legal obligation, though I believe they do have some moral and ethical obligations. Just saying...

Movies

I think the thing I will miss the most about this summer is seeing movies. On a pretty regular basis my fiancee and I would go out and see a movie after grabbing some dinner. Tomorrow night is pretty much officially our last night of summer. Thankfully, we will be ending it with the movie I have been waiting for all summer, Scott Pilgrim. I was lucky enough to avoid seeing Eat, Pray, Love tomorrow. Though I'm sure I'll get suckered in to seeing in sometime in the near future. Such is life.

Family Vacation

Family vacations are weird. Especially when you're not with your own family. People do silly things that they ought to find embarrassing, but they don't. And when you meet someone for the first time, they ask you a lot of personal questions when all you want to do is eat a burger and drink a coke.

Kids movies

I love kids movies. My favorites are Rocket Man, Nacho Libre, KungFu Panda, Up, pretty much any classic Disney movie, etc. I feel like I'm going to be that dad they gets more into cartoons and movies he's supposed to be watching for his kids than they do. They'll be so embarrassed.

Also, if you haven't seen Adventure Time with Finn and Jake you're doing yourself a massive disservice. Seriously.
