Very exciting stuff!  "Strange" tells the story of Dr. Strange coping with the loss of his control over the arcane arts. That premise alone sounded interesting enough for me to pick up this book, but  I have been delightfully surprised  to find a warm tale of fantasy and wonder. Waid has essentially given us a new doorway into the world of magic in the Marvel U. Readers new to the exploits of Stephen Strange (like myself) will instantly relate to Casey Kinmont, who is unexpectedly thrown onto Dr...

WARNING! Flip through this book before you buy it!  For my regular purchases at the comic store I just identify a new issue, pick it up and add it to my stack for the week. I dont often flip through a book because I want to avoid having any of the twists and turns spoiled. This practice made me waste $4.99 this week.  If you see this book on the shelf be sure to open it up and flip through it. Iron Man: Requiem, despite having a very Invincible Iron Man looking cover, is just a re-packaging of T...

Quick summary: Great art, great writing, major character development, and a small self-contained story that will have an impact on the larger Marvel U. If (and only if) you are having fun with Dark Reign and the Dark Avengers, this is an easy buy. A few comments:Finally we get to see what happened to Noh-Varr! I have always been bugged by how Noh-varr just fell off the map in the early issues of Dark Avengers, I was worried that he was dropped out of writer's convenience and that his inclusion ...

I've just read through "Siege The Cabal" and I have to say it has me excited for what is to come in the next three months at Marvel.   First though I would state that the prior review  by Dr. Detfink on this page is accurate. Dark reign has been a jumbled mess and a squandered opportunity to do something really different in a crossover story. Also this one-shot is a four dollar teaser. I just happen to feel that it teases really well and for four dollars it did a lot to get me excited for the co...

I found this to be a very disappointing issue. My main critiques are:   The cover is misleading - Ms. Marvel #47 sports a similar cover and the issue actually highlights a date between Ms Marvel and Spider-man.  This issue of New Avengers has very little to do with subjects of this cover. The art fails to establish space and momentum - The assault of the helicarrier never really sets up a consistent pace and seems to just jump from highlight shot to highlight shot without really giving the reader...

Great potential here. I felt that "The Invincible Iron Man" started to lose its momentum with the lovers quarrel between Stark and Masque a few issues back, but this new storyline feels like it just might make some significant changes both for Stark himself but more importantly for key characters' relationship with Stark.  Stark's talking head sequence had moments of power (referring to his relationship with Cap and Thor as the closest thing he has had to faith) mixed with many moments of confus...

I have been reading secret warriors since it first debuted and have come very close to dropping the book already. I found the concept very interesting, a band of underground special powered operatives, but I quickly found that I couldn't latch onto any of the characters and the early Leviathan leads failed to have any impact on me since I am mostly unfamiliar with the details of hydra and shield.  I found this issue to be a great refresher as it is entirely character-based and focuses on the one...
