So the Quicksilver look in DoFP... I wanna vomit. Particularly in the hair of Evan Peters so they'll have to change something about how awful he looks.
Here's my gripe: Quicksilver is a speedster. So why, WHY, would he have hair that falls in front of his face? Wouldn't the velocity push it back?? And goggles? No! No!!
Anyways, I had to get that off my chest. Dumb decisions at its finest.

I know he's just absolutely swamped with pressing matters like Beibers deportation (yes, the petition has made its way to presidential consideration) but hopefully he'll be able to spare some time. I bought the Night of Owls trade, and while it shows at the end of the book that Lincoln has revealed who he actually is to Bruce, the confrontation isn't there. So did it not happen during the Night of Owls, or...? I hope this isn't a dumb question.
So, reading Death of The Family Batman #14 and, when Bruce is listening to the Jokers tape on the stereo, does anyone think the stereo looks a little like Joker on purpose? With the green bars being the hair and the red on the stereo surrounding that small rectangle is like a wicked smile, don't ye think? Anyone elses thoughts on this or just this issue in general?
Well I had this whole rant typed up about The Amazing Spider-Man movie, but accidentally searched Spider-Man instead of tagging him or whatever. So instead of just laying out my rant, does anyone have anything they don't like about this movie? Or maybe a shorter list would be what you do like. I'm down for some discussion.
Is it just me, or does it seem like characters can no longer 'save the day' under their own power? In recent stories, it's like characters need an upgrade to contend with the newer, more powerful forces of evil. In Blackest Night, the heroes needed to be come White Lanterns. In Siege, the heroes needed norn stones. Now, in Fear Itself, the heroes have to become The Mighty. Why is it not good enough to just be themselves and, I don't know, work as a team or something. It's getting frustrating.
So, being home from school and all, I only have two things that I'm really able to do: Watch TV or work. So, last night whilst doing the former, I stumbled upon X-Men Origins: Wolverine on HBO On Demand. And seeing as how I haven't seen this movie since around the summer of its release, I decided to watch it again. Now, I'm not too sure as to why I looked down on this movie so much yesterday. Maybe it was my bad mood, maybe it was my higher standard of comic book movies. But nonetheless, I wasn't able to ignore a few things in this movie, all of which I will describe below:
1. Wolverine and Sabertooths mutual father In the beginning of the movie, it is revealed that Logan and Victor are related. Now, this is a very plausible possibility. But you see, the man who was believed to be Logans father look a lot like the adult logan that the movie focuses on, whilst the man who was supposed to be Victors and Logans biological father looked much like an adult Victor. Did the producers overlook this...? Why would Logan look identical to a man he had no blood-relation to?
Also, how did the mutual father come to the realization that Logan was his father? Was Maury around, did they have DNA testing? Did he just wake up and remember that he and Logans mother had been together or what?
2. Chris Bradley This isn't really part of the story, but did anyone else get the feeling that he wasn't all there? And what was his power supposed to be? 'Oh, I can power electric toys with my mind". How did they figure out that he even had powers? Cause it didn't really seem like he did past his circus tricks.
3. Silverfox's 'death' Wolverine has super-senses. This is a common known fact. So when his lady-friend is supposedly killed, what kept him from just smelling the blood on her and realizing it was someone elses? What stopped him from looking for wounds? I would have been like "Okay, what did he do, what do I need to get a band-aid for", you know? But no, not Logan. He just screams into the wilderness. And maybe I'm forgetting something, but did he just leave her there? I would have at least buried someone that I love. But if memory serves, he just left her there, in the forest, covered in blood.
4. Deadpool I know for a fact that 'Moviepool' has been the target of a lot of criticism, and for good reason. So, I won't get into that, because it'll just irritate me. But I was thinking, if the Deadpool movie is carried out as planned, and kept within continuity (I'm not sure if it will be), I think the only thing they can do to redeem him is to make the procedures that he underwent in this movie be what made him so deformed. But, that's farfetched.
5. Wolverines memory loss I'm no expert on brains, nor am I an expert on mutant healing factors, so I might be sounding like an idiot here. But what happens to the adamantium bullets stuck in Wolverines skull? Does his healing factor just heal around the bullets, leaving cozy little brian-pockets for them? Does it push them out? And what about where he got shot? Are there two spots in the front of his skull where he has no adamantium because of the bullet holes? How come no one at the Xavier Institute ever noticed that he has bullets floating around in his noggin when they x-rayed him?
6. Victors leap of faith At the end of the movie, when the two brothers jump off of the crumbling nuclear reactor, what happens to Victor? Wolverine, with an admantium skeleton and all, isn't able to land on his feet and relies on his reinforced skeleton to protect him from turning his bones to dust amongst landing. Victor, however, wasn't given an adamantium skeleton. How did he make it all the way down to the ground, and then get back up in time to escape the falling debris?
Anyways, anyone else have any input on these points or anything else in the movie that I may have forgotten? 4 Comments
Forgive me, fellow viners, if this has been asked before. I was not able to find it. But regarding the Nimrod Portal in Second Coming (right?), does anyone think it would've been possible for Colossus to go through the portal instead of Cable and thus save Cables life by not causing him to allow the TO virus to take over his body? 1 Comments
The 'second skin' concept. Am I the only one who would feel awkward flying over Coast City with the feeling that I was...er, dangling...above it?
In the trailer, Hal flies past some astronauts with an after-trail reminiscent of nebulas. It should really be a trail of light, like a shooting star. Or at least I think it should.
The construct that Hal conjures when fighting the thugs is too dark, and too dim. It should also somehow be connected to Hal, not just expelled from a gas-looking discharge from his ring. Green Lanterns were made to bring the LIGHT of will to the universe. A beacon, if you will. If i look to the sky during, say, the Sinestro Corp War, I would expect to see tons of flashing beams and constructs as the members wage battle with one-another. Not some half-lit construct that can't be seen more than twenty yards away.
Hal is a GREEN Lantern. Not a neon one. When he's in his apartment with Tom, it looks as though he was colored with light-brights.
Also, what's with his square mask in that same shot? I hope he changes that.
I think Ryan Reynolds is a very charming actor. I always feel sympathy with him by the end of whatever movie he's playing. But this is kind of out of his comfort zone, to me. This isn't a rom-com where he learns the meaning of love and what not. No, this is the depiction of one of the universes greatest heroes, and wielder of the most powerful weapon in the universe. He better step it up. I do have confidence in him, however.
Blake Livelys acting is abysmal.
Oa looks kind of like an acid trip.
Things I love:
Sinestros look. Very much what I wanted it to be when I pictured this. Spot on, DC. Spot on.
Call me a pessimist. Call me a critic. But as a devoted Green Lantern fan, I'd hope they'd get SOME of this stuff right. If they don't, well, I'm sure Marvel would love the admission for my ticket.
