When Elves Ruled Xylanthia
A long time ago the world bowed in the presence of light elves. The orcs... The goblins... The fairies.
Everyone respected the power of their power... and for good reason... for they had opened the gates to the world of magic to the lower races before driving out the gods. Oh, yes... there were gods. The gods were almighty and the gods were all-seeing... or so we thought. That was proven false by the light elves who were masters of illusory magic. They could not fight the gods directly but they were more than capable of deceiving them into sharing the secrets of high magic. With this new knowledge the light elves were able to create a rift in the realms. The light elves then further deceived the gods into entering higher realms of spirit, realms which would be very hard to return from without forfeiting their powers, and that was how the light elves had banished the gods. From that day forward they were the new gods.
The Race Wars
All were happy under the rule of the new gods, that is, until power shifted to Lord Rinor and Duchess Sileveth who began a reign of tyranny. The first to rebel against the new gods were their cousins, the dark elves, led by the powerful Lord Braigon. Orcs and goblins followed soon after and a great war began to brew.
Return of The Gods
For many millennia the gods of the old world had been watching the race wars rage on from the spiritual realms. Although the elves had betrayed them, they were still children of the gods, as were the other races, and the gods could not stand by and watch their children slaughter each other. A brave goddess, whose name has been forgotten with time, along with a few other brave gods and goddesses had chosen to manifest themselves into the lower realms of material in order to restore balance.
Human Slaves | Elvish Masters
Humans were the youngest of all the races and therefore were seen as the weakest as it was not known where they came from or what powers they possessed. The elves decided that it would be best to keep them in a primitive state until they figured out what to do with them. It did not take long for them to do that as the world was first introduced to the power of the humans during the time of the race wars. Whether it was magic or combat, humans had shocked the world with spectacular feats. Naturally they had a strong tie with nature, even more so than any of the higher races, and some had potential for physiology that exceeded many of the higher races while others had shown aptitude for magic. The human potential knew no bounds, and unlike those before them, they were able to move things with their mind, and even speak with their minds! Xylanthia had never seen this before...
The fear of humans had gotten so bad that the elves were forced to devise a plan to conceal the power within humans. The answer to their worries came with the development of magical collars that nullified magic. Every elvish estate had begun production of these collars and all humans were required to wear them. Once worn they were sealed with the most powerful elf magic to prevent anyone from removing them. Each human possessed various strengths and weaknesses and each collar was specially made to abate their strengths and exacerbate their weaknesses.
Human life within the confines of an elvish estate is quite harsh. They are worked like mules starting from before dawn then fed only small rations of scraps. Upon birth, children are examined by oracles whose jobs are to determine which class the child will be suitable for. Classes consist of laborers, artisans, herbalists, caretakers, pages, breeders, hunters, gathers, warriors, rangers, spies and assassins. A human's class is determined by his or her strengths and weaknesses.
Not all humans are slaves, however. There are small human settlements hidden within the forests and throughout the wastelands and they enjoy freedom. Some humans have even begun to harness their magical potential and are now forces to be reckoned with.

Upon her birth Kikia Tarik's aura shone brightly. Esgalel, the oracle who had overseen her birth determined that she would best serve Lord Rinor as a ranger. So that is what she became on her 14th year, and she was the best that the lord had seen yet. Her skill as a tracker was remarkable and her prowess as a fighter was unrivaled by other humans in Lord Rinor's estate. Her abilities as a ranger were quite reputable and after serving her master for just a few years she had already earned his favor and became his top ranger. Lord Rinor was also pleased with the oracle, Esgalel, and rewarded her handsomely for giving such a fine reading, but although Esgalel was a fine reader, there was a small detail she could not see about the Kikia; and what Esgalel did not foresee was Kikia's uncanny ability to relate to animals. It had been recorded in the histories that other humans have learned to speak with the animals but Kikia's relationship with them had reached new heights for humanity. It truly was on an entirely new level. She was able to invoke the spirit of all animals which enabled her to enhance her physiology beyond peak human standards. So as time passed Kikia continued to serve Lord Rinor faithfully until her 17th birthday when word of her abilities made way to her master. The powerful elf was furious and as punishment Kikia was cast out of the estate. The punishment did not stop there, however. Lord Rinor placed a bounty on her head so that she would never experience a truly free and peaceful life.
What happened to her after that is unknown but since her disappearance tales of a wild beast girl have spread all throughout the realm. Some say this creature eats elven children who stray too far from home. They say the beast girl is Kikia out for revenge on elves while others say it is merely a myth.
