Chi is a life source energy that can be used defensively and offensively. So yes Superman should be affected by it no matter what.

False. You are talking about the 2005 arc titled the Question? Where Lex Luther builds a machine to gather chi energy and use it to kill Superman?

You should seriously read the comic buddy. Superman is not weak against Chi itself. Superman in that comic actually tanked a chi blast like nothing happened.

Also, the plot to kill Superman using the Chi wasn't about building up massive Chi energy to blast at him. The point of gathering the Chi energy was to give it to a magic user called a Psychopomp who could compel Supermans soul itself with that power to go to eternal torment. The only reason why this was possible was because Superman at one point in time died already. Superman vs Doomsday.

Psychopomp is a spiritual guide to the next world. They are known in history has angels, demons, deities, or a person that walks between both worlds. Like the Question or Phantom Stranger for example.

Chi is not special in DC comics. Characters like Zantanna, Constantine, ect all use chi to preform magic. The Chi itself does not harm Superman. Even Superman himself has chi energy in him. A Lifeforce energy. Only Supernatural energy can harm Superman. Magic!

Lex Luthers plot with the science spire was to gather all the chi energy and let Psychopomp command Supermans soul out of him and send him to a living hell where he would suffer torment for eternity. That was the plot. And it failed thanks to the Question who killed the Psychopomp before it he could even use it.

Lex Luther's plot was to kill Superman was place him in a supernatural realm by using "Psychopomp" that will kill Superman for Lex, leaving him in a place of eternal torment so he won't be able to come back.

Basically, Lex Luther wanted to create a Literal Hell for Superman! A place that would eventually kill him and Superman's Spirit would be trapped there for eternity and he'd face eternal torment. That was Luthers weapon.

Chi itself does not hurt Superman. It's the spiritual realm/ supernatural. Magic. ect Hence, Psychopomp is magic!

Even the Superman homepage list Supermans weaknesses as Kryptonite, Magic, and dependence on solar energy.

This also comes from DC comics main webpage. It says nothing else about anything else.

Think of it like this. Lex Luther is being a fundamentalist wishing eternal torment on Superman. And Superman is the nice kind atheist who Lex wants to cast into the lake of fire. :)

^If you understand how fucked up that is congrats!

Chi is not a weakness to Superman. Its magic end of Story.

From the Superman home page! http://www.supermanhomepage.com/comics/comics-index-lists/comics-slist-intro.php?topic=comics-slist-specials2

The Question #2 [of 6] (February)

Rick Veitch, Tommy Lee Edwards, Tommy Lee Edwards

As Lex Luthor announces plans to build a new science tower at the center point of a powerful chi energy nexus, Vic Sage wanders around Metropolis, listening to the city's heart, hearing what it has to say about unfolding events. A team of highly organized theives divert Superman's attention with a massive lense focusing the sun's energy while they rob a bank... but Vic Sage intervenes, stopping the robbery.

The Question #3 [of 6] (March)

Rick Veitch, Tommy Lee Edwards, Tommy Lee Edwards

Vic Sage makes his way around Metropolis, stopping various criminal activities that are all linked to the Subterraneans. He discovers how they're using hi-tech networks installed in bathroom toilets to conduct their monetary transactions, counting on the fact that Superman wouldn't use his x-ray vision to look in on such locations. Lois gets a look at the chi pathways thanks to a hi-tech headset Luthor's scientists built. The Subterranean leader talks to Lex Luthor on the phone about how Psychopomp will kill Superman for Lex, leaving him in a place of eternal torment so he won't be able to come back.

The Question #4 [of 6] (April)

Rick Veitch, Tommy Lee Edwards, Tommy Lee Edwards

As the Question takes out yet another criminal who has been illegally selling body parts, he's confronted by Superman who warns him about not crossing the line in Metropolis. The Subteraneans decide to deal with the Question and take him out, but they dangerously expose themselves to Superman to do so, and only find the Question is more than capable and takes their strike team out instead. Lois learns that the new LexCorp Science Spire grounds are haunted by old spirits, and the Question ends up there also, having heard their tormented voices.

^ATTENTION ATTENTION SPOILER ALERT! SUPERNATURAL ENERGY IS SPOTTED IN THE ABOVE COMMENT!

Cough cough: Haunted by old spirits, tormented voices! Superman tells Question he stinks of magic! That superman cannot see this kind of energy? This has magic written all over it!

The Question #5 [of 6] (May)

Rick Veitch, Tommy Lee Edwards, Tommy Lee Edwards

Six True Words is murdered as she realizes that Luthor's plans for harnessing the Chi power using the Science Spire as a weapon to destroy Superman. Her spirit guides The Question to the truth of the matter, as the Subteraneans (with Superman out of the way saving people from Chemo in New Delhi) make a move on the Science Spire, aiming to kill The Question.

The Question #6 [of 6] (June)

Rick Veitch, Tommy Lee Edwards, Tommy Lee Edwards

The Question toys with the Subterranean gunmen, killing them one by one. Fusing their souls to the Science Spire, poisoning its Chi. This act of revenge frees the spirit of Six True Words, while her murderer is also encased within the concrete foundations of the Spire by the Question. In the aftermath, Superman searches the scene, while Vic Sage's news report on the Subterraneans is broadcast on TV. Pyschopomp is revealed to be The Question in disguise, as he tells Superman how Luthor planned to his the Science Spire as a weapon against him. Vic Sage leaves Metropolis, not having had the chance to tell Lois he loves her, but content that some questions are best unanswered.

Fusing there souls! Supernatural context yet again! YEP MAGIC!

The plot Pyschopomp was going to place or banish Superman to suffer eternal torment. That was Luther's plan to defeat Superman. Send him to a supernatural realm called Pyschopomp. Where Superman could never escape and would die living his spirit in eternal torment. Basically, Lex Luther tried to create literal hell for Superman. But it failed.

As far as it being proven to be magic. Well, let me prove it. Chi is also a termed that is used in comics with Zantanna and John Constantine (also the demon etrigan).

Silver Surfer

Please do not list any characters with boost in alt stories (like King Rune Thor), leave out nigh omnipotent characters (like Tribunal, IG Thanos, ect), Spirits (like Spectre), Ghosts(like Deadman), no immortals (beings that cannot be killed in battle), forces of nature/cosmic (like Galactus, Phoenix), other dimensional beings (like mxyplyzyk), or only characters around the same level of strength as Surfer. Not characters that will completely out class him. Make sure characters are only Marvel and DC main continuity based. However you can use New 52 DC or Pre 52 characters that would meet description. Play fair I just want peoples opinion on who they think could defeat Surfer in a fair fight- not that they would but you opinion of who can do it. Thanks

Whats your thoughts will DC ever pit Lucifer vs the Justice League? Will Dc expand on the Heaven vs Hell mythology?

Silver Surfer should wipe the floor with Superman but no way would DC let their flagship character lose so it'd either have to be a stalemate or Superman winning via PIS.

Why do you think SS would beat Superman just curious? Any evidence for such a claim? How does Surfer get around Supermans strength?

Move to battle forum

And Supes loses.

/Thread

Well personally I don't agree that Superman would lose in a fight but majority does point in that direction. But majority also points to Batman beating Superman as well but that does not make you guys right. :)
