Lagoon Boy mentions that people won't be teleporting off the planet as well as teleporting on it thanks to this shield, but Superboy states that doesn't stop space ships and boom tubes from entering the planet. After a brief discussion with Jaime Reyes and his Scarab armor, Superboy asks where is Nightwing so that they can go on a mission, but Nightwing was taking care of personal business. When both Miss Martian and Best Boy had other matters to attend to, Superboy took Jaime with him as he couldn't stand watching Lagoon and Miss Martian flirt with one another.

When Red Arrow travels by rooftops to leave his recent activity with saving the clerk from being robbed of all his money, he runs into some of his old friends. Green Arrow, Black Canary, Nightwing and an out of costume Wally West (Kid Flash) and Jim Harper (Guardian) all come to look into their good friend's recent problem. When Red Arrow tells his old friends that he has nothing to say or explain, Green Arrow pulls out the wad of cash that Red Arrow took from the store after he saved him. Red Arrow finally slowed down and spoke with them saying that he needs it to fund his private search for the real Roy Harper, a search that he feels alone in since the others have stopped looking for him he says.

Superboy and Blue Beetle Look For Intergang

Blue Beetle tells Superboy that he knows the reason why he picked him for this mission instead of Lagoon, Miss Martian and Beast Boy. The two heroes eventually follow Bruno and Whisper to the hall of Justice.

Red Arrow doesn't treat himself with respect and Superboy and Blue Beetle Fight Nature

No Caption Provided

Black Canary mentions of Red Arrow not having trained in many years, when she goes to prove this, Roy almost falls off the side of the building, but thanks to Black Canary she caught him before he could've become street pizza. Roy feels himself to not treat his body with respect as he still hasn't come to terms of being a clone.

When Blue Beetle and Superboy finally arrive to the Hall of Justice, Beetle explains to Superboy that the scarab is actually alive and guides him. He also mentions that the Scarab was built by Ted Kord as the ultimate weapon, but Ted was killed by the Light before he could use it for himself. During this time, Bruno and Whisper were setting up an Apokololips weapon to bring back an applaxian golem, when Bruno activated the machine the rays messed with the Blue Beetle scarab rendering him useless for a time. Once the New Genesisphere countered the effects of the ray, Blue Beetle went straight into the action using a sonic canon. Though Superboy screamed not to do that, the golem absorbed the energy of the sonic canon and shot it straight back at the heroes. The golem leaves with Bruno and Whisper leaving Superboy and Blue Beetle near unconscious.

Back on the rooftop with Red Arrow, the heroes try to convince Roy to come back with them as their friend/teammate. Red Arrow is still playing the blame game and tells them that they've given up searching for the real Roy Harper, but Jim Harper tells Roy that the original was killed because of Cadmus' policy to destroy the original after a suitable clone is built. Jim tells Roy that he needs to live to honor the memory of the original Roy Harper.

Superboy and Blue Beetle trace down Bruno and his golem, Bruno was going to turn the golem on the heroes again but the New Genesisphere jammed the radio waves that commanded the golem; making the golem go on a rampage. The heroes try to stop the golem but are having little affect injuring it, when the golem sees a nearby nuclear plant it begins to stop fighting Superboy and Blue Beetle and walking towards the nuclear plant. Two silhouetted figures are watching the golem near closer-and-closer to it's goal of destroying the nuclear reactor, when one of the silhouetted figures is revealed to be Sports-Master, the other figure tells him to take care of Bruno and Whisper. Superboy and Blue Beetle arrive much later after trapping Bruno and Whisper to a tree. The heroes try to detain the golem but are having as little success as hurting the beast, Blue Beetle realizes he can talk to the golem and ask it to stop.

Back at the rooftop with Red Arrow, Roy asks Wally why he is here, mentioning that Wally has given up being Kid Flash. Wally replies that he is out of the hero game, but he doesn't turn his back on his friends. Also Nightwing mentions that the clone Roy has always been their friend and that no one really knew the original Roy Harper. Roy Harper tells him that he doesn't want his soul to be salvaged and that they should really be working with Aqua Lad as he is now a villain.

As Blue Beetle had calibrated his canon to be a receiver to communicate with the golem, the golem tells Superboy and Blue Beetle that it is in pain and wants to end it's life by destroying the nuclear reactor. Before the heroes could save the golem, the mysterious silhouetted figure destroys the golem before it can wreck any more havoc, as well as be used by the enemy for a force of good. When the golem was destroyed Superboy and Blue Beetle went back to Bruno and Whisper and found them to be non-responsive thanks to Sports Master. They were alive but they had no clue who had did this to Bruno and Whisper.

Much after talking with Roy, Wally is seen back at his apartment with his girlfriend, Artemis, celebrating their 5th valentines day together. They say some stuff and Wally mentions that Roy does not want to let any of his friends into his life. Roy is seen back at his apartment with Cheshire coming to see her husband. It turns out Cheshire is finally back to see her husband because she has information on the real Roy Harper and she wants Roy to finally put the ghost of the past to rest and raise a family. It is shown that Roy has a daughter named Lian Nguyen-Harper.

So what did you think of the episode? Was it interesting to keep you watching or what?

Ultimate Spider-Man The Animated Series Review

Spider-Man makes his triumphed return to the small screen once again! The Ultimate Spider-Man finds Peter Parker training to become the ultimate hero of all time with a little help from Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. and a team of rookie heroes. The Ultimate Spider-Man TV show is the first ever Marvel produced show making it even more richer in Marvel Comics DNA. This is excellent news for loyal fans of Spider-Man who've been waiting for the Ultimate version of Marvel shows to be created. With the release of lots Ultimate Spider-Man material in the past month or so, it is finally here, the Ultimate Spider-Man! Will it make the cut?

The Good

No Caption Provided

The show opens up with a Spider-Man cliche that has been used every once in awhile in Spider-Man shows/movies/comics; narration from the character's perspective (or Spider-Man's perspective). This cliche of Spider-Man telling what has happened, prior and up to the point of getting his abilities, in the last year or so never gets old just because of the fact that seeing another creative team perfect the short narration story of Spider-Man for new viewers is really incredible. The first villain Spider-Man fights in this show is The Trapster, who many viewers don't particularity know as an iconic Spider-Man villain (which is true). Already we get to see Spider-Man break the fourth wall through his short fight with the villain, as well as bringing that iconic Spider-Man banter in the show that we would normally expect from Spider-Man. Just like in the comic book, we have the super-spy Nick Fury knowing that this is the age of heroes and that he needs to recruit as many of them as he possibly can to protect the world from the next big threat.

In these two episodes, Norman Osborn is seen to be a key villain for the eventual story development in the series. Osborn wants to harness Spider-Man's powers to manufacture an army of Spider-Men; whom he'll sell to the highest government bidder that wants and edge in the war. We get to see more villains throughout the two episodes that aired like the frightful four and Doctor Octopus all who work for Norman Osborn.

You'll be rooting thwipless for this show.
You'll be rooting thwipless for this show.

As expected, Peter's two most loyal friends Mary Jane and Harry Osborn are in this show. With also the frequent appearance of Stan Lee who plays Stan The Janitor, which is really great to see the humor and life that he brings to the show. Drake Bell does a good job as the voice of Spider-Man. The voice of Spider-Man comes naturally to him as if he himself were Spider-Man, just the humor he brings and the fading in-and-out of the fourth wall is enjoyable. The other actors Tom Kenny, Chi McBride, JK Simmons, Tara Strong, Steven Weber and others did a good job on these first two episodes and I can't wait to see how they fit more into their roles as hero or villain in eventual episodes. The appearance of Agent Coulson played by Clark Gregg in both big and small screen appearances has shown that he is really moving up in the ranks as an actor in Marvel films, it won't be long till we have an Phil Coulson Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. movie in the near future.

Having Paul Dini and original Ultimate Spider-Man writer/creator Brain Michael Bendis on the series makes this show extremely better and gives the viewer a sense that the writers know what they are doing with the characters and bringing the very comic book life that Marvel wants to display in this show. The Man of Action who are Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle are working with Marvel, Dini and Bendis on this show will help strengthen the flow of the show building the characters in this show and also giving loyal Ultimate Spider-Man fans great material that they will not be displeased with. The animation style of the cartoon makes the series even more unique from the comic book, showing that the writers are looking forward to the future while also remembering the roots of the Ultimate Spider-Man.

The Bad

You will watch this show through the good and the bad
You will watch this show through the good and the bad

Usually when a new show comes around the creators go a little overboard or don't give the viewers enough material to stick with the TV Show. While the story, animation and actors were a great choice, it seemed a bit to me that the writers were really going a bit all out with the fourth wall concept. In the first episode of the show it seemed all Spider-Man did was break the fourth wall, but near the end of the episode and going into the second they toned it down a bit just enough for the viewer to get air. While I'm all for one with how the writers are molding Spider-Man into this show, I think they should back off just a little bit on breaking the fourth wall every 2 minutes. Other than that, this was a great series.

The Verdict

No Caption Provided

Give the show a chance, you watch to much TV as it is so why don't you watch some more!? The Ultimate Spider-Man The Animated Series is a thwiping awesome show that has great attention to detail and also giving the loyal Ultimate Spider-Man fan a show that they deserve, as that is mostly the targeted audience that this show goes to (while also bringing in new viewers). If the comedy, action or story doesn't get you to watch this show, then just move along. Overall 5 out of 5. thwip-thwip.

Batman - The Brave, The Bold, And The Ended

If you haven't known, Batman The Brave and The Bold ended with a summary of 64 episodes (or 65 if you count the only two part siege of starro as not one, but two episodes). The final episodes were aired in the United Kingdom and haven't transferred over to America on iTunes to purchase, however it can be watched on YouTube. Originally airing on November 14, 2008, comic viewers and fans loyal to Batman's TV shows thought that Brave and the Bold will turn Batman into a laughing stock. But what they got instead, is a salute to the silver age of comic book heroes. Many appearances from the Justice Society of America, classic costumes from the silver age, and also bad hero puns in the middle of fights, is what made the show really special. However, while the show had a nice run, it ended recently on August 8, 2011.

"Four Star Spectacular!" Ep. 64
 Teaser: N/A

Main Story: A compilation of four short stories.

Adam Strange in Worlds War - Wanting to give his wife a lovely anniversary gift, Adam travels to Earth to get the perfect gift. However, when the zeta beam starts acting strange and picking up random items from Earth, Adam quickly finds out that Kanjar Ro is trying to take over Rann.

Flash in Double Jeopardy - After saving Batman from Captain Boomerang, Barry Allen tells Batman why he was late at coming to save the day. This leads to a story with Mirror Master, who supposedly kills The Fastest Man Alive.

Mazing Man In Kitty Catastrophe - Mazing Man sets his hands on watching over a cat while the owners leave the house. What could possibly go wrong?

The Creature Commandoes in The War That Time Forgot - When Batman goes missing, The Creature Commandoes go to look for them on an island full of dinosaurs. They find out that the Ultra Humanite is behind Batman's kidnapping.

"Mitefall" Ep. 65
Teaser: On the Earth, 5501 in the year 1865, President Lincoln is attacked by a robotic John Wilkes Booth. Batman teams up with the President to stop the assassination attempt.

Main Story: Bat-Mite gets tired of the lighter TV show of Batman, and wants to get the show canceled so that a darker Batman show can replace it. Can Ambush Bug stop Bat-mite?

Aftermath

With the show being done, a darker series will take it's place. That dark series is the Batgirl Show! Sounds like we've got something to expect later this fall.
