The Best Martial Artists in Comics

In no particular order, feel free to tell me about anyone I may have overlooked.

List items

  • Arguably the greatest martial artist in the DC Universe, and the World's Greatest Detective.

  • The first Robin, a natural acrobat, and trained to fight by Bruce Wayne since he was a child. Dick rules, although why he continues to go by "Dick" is beyond me.

  • This kid has been taught by Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, Ra's al Ghul, and Lady Shiva. Even beating the latter in a fight after his training.

  • The second person to take up the mantel of Robin. After being killed by the Joker, he was resurrected with the Lazarus Pits, and came back to Gotham to raise some hell.

  • The greatest assassin in the DC Universe.

  • The previous Batgirl and Lady Shiva's daughter.

  • One of the best fighters in the DCU.

  • With over 600 years of fighting experience, Ra's has proven to be one of Batman's greatest adversaries, rivaling even the Joker.

  • This guy is essentially the exact opposite of Bruce Wayne, dedicating his life to the eradication of justice as opposed to crime. Having taken down the entire Justice League single-handedly, he MORE than makes the cut.

  • The World's Greatest Boxer. Still kicking ass, despite his old age.

  • The perfect human soldier, Steve Rogers is one of the greatest hand to hand fighters in the Marvel Universe.

  • Ruler of Wakanda, T'challa has trained himself to be one of the best fighters in the Marvel Universe.

  • The living weapon, martial arts is kinda his whole schtick.

  • The guy who taught Daredevil how to fight. Need I say more?

  • Trained into the bad-ass he is today by the legendary Stick, he has more than earned a place on this list.

  • Probably the greatest marksmen in the Marvel Universe, this guy has fought Daredevil to a standstill on more than one occasion.

  • The greatest assassin in the Marvel Universe. 'Nuff said.

  • With over 100 years of fighting experience, Logan has mastered almost every fighting discipline known to man.

  • Despite his many personalities, he's pretty much mastered Khonshu's fighting style.

  • One of the more aggressive female heroes, Huntress has proven time and again, that she can handle herself. And does anyone else think she looks EXACTLY like a female version of Hawkeye?

  • With his photographic reflexes all he has to do is sit back and watch to get the job done.

  • Quite apart from being one of my favourite comic book characters of all time, this guy is hands down one of the best martial artists in the Marvel Universe. Having gone toe to toe with Wolverine the Punisher, Taskmaster, and even the Wrecking Crew, and come out on top, the Merc with a Mouth just keeps on coming. Oh, and he's Canadian, which just makes him that much cooler.

  • With 90% of his brain to devote to fighting this guy more than makes the cut.

  • The gentlemanly, German, Catholic, blue, furry, swordsman is tied with Wolverine as my favorite X-Man. The fact that he can use a sword with both hands and his tail doesn't hurt either.

  • Bruce Wayne's genetic son, and the future Batman, Terry makes this list for most of the same reasons that Bruce did.

  • Just another girl with photographic reflexes, and the know-how to use it to kick your ass.

  • A comrade of Iron Fist. While he may not be as well known or as strong as his friend, he definitely knows how to fight.

  • Her name says it all.

  • The World's Greatest Reporter. Not to shabby in a fight either.

  • The only person to truly "break" Batman. Despite his brutish appearance and fighting style, Bane is one of Batman's most intelligent foes.

  • Okay, I may have spoken prematurely when I called Batman the greatest martial artist in the DCU, this guy kinda takes the cake...

  • Even if Kato WASN'T probably the most badass manservant EVER, he also just happens to be Bruce Lee IRL. 'Nuff Said.

  • While not quite as adept in the martial arts as his deadly chauffeur, Britt Reid can brawl with the best of 'em.

  • One of the first comic book Superheroes ever created. Denny Colt was, and remains today one of the best hand-to-hand fighters in comics.

  • Despite his lack of powers, Ted Kord MORE than makes up for it with his genius intellect, awesome gadgets, and prodigious fighting skills.
