Addressing Captain America's shield striking abilities against Iron Man's suit:
From a battle perspective, it really is Cap's shield that gives him a edge in H2H combat against Iron Man. It's the hardest known material known to man and far more durable than Iron Man's armor.
MCU Steve is pretty strong, and the shield just exponentially increases his striking ability. This is a guy that was able to throw a 300 to 500 lb Ultron at a freeway pylon and smashed the pylon to pieces. The same fight scene, he kicked his shield and lodged it into Ultron's chest.
After watching age of Ultron and seeing all of Cap's feats, his striking feats against Iron Man did make a lot more sense to me.
Tony of course is still holding back
Addressing Iron Man getting hit by a Tank Shell:
This is to address people complaining about Rhodey becoming cripple and Iron Man being hit by a tank shell and comparing the feats.
From my years of studying failure analysis, I want to mention that there is a difference hitting a fixed object and one that is floating in the air. These are called degrees of freedom.
If I poke a piece of paper in midair, it won't take as much damage if someone held the paper, fixed it at its ends and I poked it.
There are two major things I notice about the tank shell incident.
1. Tony is in the air and the shell either bounces or plows past him causing him to fly backwards and spin a bit. This is far less damaging than if Tony was held by all 4 limbs by a powerful vice and he was blasted with a tank shell.
2. Ton'y suit was still online. His suit could have done a number of things to sustained his body. It could have resisted and absorbed impact by possibly stiffening or protecting his body using motors, etc. It could have slowed his fall down with repulsors, etc. After all, his suit was still powered on after the tank shell incident.
Rhodey did not have his luxury. Rhodey's suit was completely shut off and therefore his limbs became limber and free.
As it seems, comparing Iron Man's fall with the tank shell and comparing Rhodey's fall is completely different. I hope people can realize this part of the movie.
Those are some of my two cents to argue for consistency purposes.
@petey_is_spidey: I honestly don't know (or actually care) which will make more money. But I think they'll be neck and neck.
What gives marvel a slight advantage is that this generation of children are familiar with the avengers and will want to watch the civil war movie, in addition, parents might feel more at ease because of the Disney ownership.
